Mekanism for Minecraft 1.20

Mekanism is an independent Minecraft add-on featuring high-tech machinery that can be used to create powerful tools, armor, and weapons. You can find more detail on the features on the Official Wiki. With features ranging from jetpacks and balloons to factories and energy cubes, the mod does not have a single unifying goal. Nevertheless, these features combine coherently to create a rich gameplay experience that players will enjoy.

Mekanism uses a tier-based system to organize the majority of its core features, like energy cubes and factories. There are four tiers: basic, advanced, elite, and ultimate. Players can upgrade their components to the next tier by placing each component in a crafting grid and surrounding it with the necessary resources for the upgrade or in world by using tier installers.

After using Mekanism for a while, players can obtain a near-indestructible suit of Refined Obsidian Armor, receive five ingots for each ore mined, fly with hydrogen-powered jetpacks, and have cute robotic friends following them around while they mine. :)

Stuff to Change

Replace all platinum stuff into steel

Test of Pre-5.0

Just tested you pre-release 5.0. It is WAY overpowered. Your solar panels charges a batbox full in like 10 minutes. It's not supposed to charge a batbox even after 60 hours! You're supposed to need like 40 panels to generate the energy it has now. Solar panel also shouldn't store energy. All your generators are overpowered (especially the geothermal and solar panel), and they're not separated from this mod. I thought you're making it part of Green Tech?

Also, please do not have a GUI for the solar panel. It's really awkward and the solar panel should be like a slab, not a block. No one puts batteries into solar panels.

I still don't like the fact you have your own energy units. Please use UE's unit with joules and stuff.

Anyway, sorry for making critical comments, but I really hope they can be changed in your mod. :) As much as your mod is great with content, I feel it is not very native to UE, and more like another mod and not part of the UE series. You have your own battery, your own power system and everything. You are pretty much independent of UE. You have armor and tools here and there and in general a bit of everything. From the creative menu, it looks like something IC2 would have which is what I am trying to not become. Separate your mod into modules. Have Green Tech as Green Tech, have tools as a tool mod and machines as machines.

If I didn't misunderstood you, you wanted UE as your main power source. Then why don't you use the UE power source and UE units of power? In the mod pack, your mod looks like an alien because it is just different from all the other UE mods. It looks like someone installed IC2 into UE. I really hope your mod can be closer to UE than to be just another independent tech mod. I am sorry to say this, but if you can't fix these issues, I won't be able to add your mod in the FTB pack for the next version. You have all these magic stuff in your mod that just doesn't make sense in the UE environment.

MORE URGENT!! DUPE GLITCH WITH HEAT GENERATOR!

empty battery -> no fuel in gen -> full capacity of internal gen -> fill battery INSIDE the heat gen -> once battery is 100% the internal capacity of the heat gen will fill back up to 100% with NO additional fuel = DUPE BUG

Dupe Glitch

When I place a basic energy cube, it places, but then shoots out another energy cube. I can do this continuously. Now, it's possible that it's because I'm using MCPC Plus, so if nobody else is reporting this issue you can probably ignore it...

Add Item IDs to config file

I only see 1 config file for the Mekanism mod, and it doesn't contain any item ID sections. I want the option to change item IDs

Your Next Mod

I want to talk about about your next mod of pipes and steam stuff. Now, first of, I'd like to say I support you in making more UE mods, however, that's not the type of mods Universal Electricity really needs.

We already have Darkguardsman working on Basic Pipes, which is a UE version of Buildcraft Pipes will various liquid and gas transport. I don't think you should redo something that another UE modder already has done.

Instead, UE really needs mods that does something else. For example, we really need a farming mod related to agriculture. There are other stuff too and we can discuss more about this before you start working.

Choose output side

How does this work currently? I can't get it to change the colors in the inventory slots...

Issues that I have found from Code alone

1: Your upgrades do NOT use IModifier. From now on, when I get asked to add support for your upgrades, I shall tell the person who asked the question, "It is mostly done on my side. Aidan needs to implement something in his upgrades, then I can finish."

2: Your ItemID's are HardCoded. I know that this is already a reported issue, but Cal went berserk when I told him.

3: Your language support doesn't even extend to "en_GB", "en_AU", "en_CA". Fix this. Look at how we do it, or Basic Components.

4: You are using the wrong ratios for cross-mod support. Use the ones in universalelectricity.core.UniversalElectricity

Machine Use Too Little Energy

Unlike IC2, there never seems to be an energy lack issue when playing Mekanism. There should be some energy lack at early game at least, so increase the machine energy requirements.

Separation

I noticed you had solar panels and stuff in this repo. How are you planning to separate this into two mods?

Smelting Factory OP

The smelting factories are a bit OP. Make it like this:

Refined Steel?!

Can you please change it into... normal steel? The ore and ingots are getting more and more cluttered and kinda starts to ruin the cohesive experience of the game. Try to limit the amount of new ores and ingots you add. We can talk about this on the IRC.

Bronze tools anre armor are way too OP. Tried it on survival on a server.

Remove Energy Tablet

If you want Mekanism to look more UE, I suggest removing the Energy Tablet because it is kinda useless when you have a... ENERGY CUBE? I know you're gonna say: It's part of a crafting recipe. But to be honest you can just use direct stuff in the Energy Cube T1 recipe instead of having a weird out-of-place battery that doesn't fit in with the UE mods...

Also, rename Ultimate to Elite pls!

Teleporter Suggestions

No need to right click to teleport. Any entity that goes in will be teleported. That way, you can teleport items also.

Don't use shift right click. Just right click for GUI cus it's a bit annoying.

Bugs to Fix before Voltz ModPack Release

Ultimate Smelting Factory:
Should be renamed to what I suggested or something else: Infrared Heater

Also, not connecting to wires.

Some machines connection in all sides bug. Solar array.

Solar panels and such should be event based and not require ANY ticks at all

Changed Refined Steel to Steel

Seriously Aidan, I really wish this to be done. This really should be gotten rid of. A lot of players are annoyed with it and so am I. It's so redundant to have two steels when our mods are supposed to act like one.

Now Aidan, not trying to be harsh to you, just giving you honest opinions to make your mod better. Don't want you to be flogged XD I hope you seriously consider to get rid of refined steel as well as materials that your mod doesn't really need. I know when you make something, you like to stick with it because it was hard work, but sometimes change is for the better. There are a lot of old stuff in your mod that would've been removed to help the overall improvement of the mod.

URGENT!

Your mod seems to disable Basic Components recipes which had a lot of confusion and complaints from players! Please make this configurable and off by default! We need this quickly for the Voltz pack!

Energy Cubes

Every break of that block in creative gives me an extra block. Inventory spamming.
T1 Cube should be green, T2 should be red, T3 should be blue. Matches UE standards.

Voltage Issues

Please make all your voltage multiples of 120. E.g: Solar array should be 240 not 256 or it won't be properly compatible with Electric Expansion. Also, all your output slots should be BLACK COLOR or it doesn't match the UE output color which confused a lot of players. Change Ultimate to Elite to match UE better.

Gas tank with railcraft boiler

On multiplayer if the gas tank gets placed with the railcraft boiler it crashes, almost corrupting the map.

Small note. it would be awesome if the Gas tank would pickup the Oyxgen from the Electrolytic Seperator.

Obsidian recipes are broken

Steel Tools

Aidan, I have a request for you. Please, change your redstone armor set into steel. I went on the UE server this past week and most players complained and said they didn't like the "redstone" armor. It simply didn't make sense. Just rename it to steel and change the texture, that's all. Thanks :)

Implement IModifier

Have the upgrades items implement IModifier so it will be compatible with other UE mods.

Remove Energy Tablet

I still really wish you'd remove this tablet since you have the energy cubes already. You really don't need this for the crafting recipe and it looks redundant to have Cubes AND a tablet. Makes the tablet look out of place and weird.

Speaking of recipes, I suggest you to get rid of the "item solar panel" thing that is used for your crafting recipe of the solar panel and simply use a direct recipe to prevent item ID occupation and creative menu space spamming.

Repairing

I suggest solar panels and all green energy generating source required repairing. UE has a new repairing API in the prefab package. You should make your solar and wind turbines require repairing to prevent over powered-ness. Solar and Wind turbines should suck because they are.. free.

P.S King Lemming said he would make Thermal Expansion a UE mod if our green technology was balanced and more under-powered.

Nerf IC2 and BC support

This is just a suggestion. Make IC2 and BC conversions convert badly so people will prefer to use UE instead.

Fully charged energy tablets and partially charged energy cubes

equals, overunity.

If you put a fully charged energy tablet into the plus slot of a partially charged energy cube, the energy cube will begin filling with energy by itself, and the energy table stays full >_>

Bio-Fuel Energy Cycle is broken

Currently the cost to produce biofuel is higher than the output from burning it in the bio-generator

Crusher takes 2.5kJ and cant (at maximum) produce 2 biofuel.
Each biofuel generates 500kj. So the best you can ever do is loose 1.5kJ!

The primary issue is requiring the crusher in the cycle with its high energy cost, If biofuel could be hand crafted, or have a separate machine which produced it for a low power cost the issue would be solved.

(a machine could have a nice mechanic where it runs faster the more plant-life you have in the input it say 32s to convert 1 but only 2min 30s to produce a stack
time to convert = 0.5 / (total input items/64)
works out that the first item takes half a second but the last takes 32 so keeping it topped up keeps it running fast)

Either that or just double the biofuel produced from the crusher and triple the amount of "fuel" that gets put into the generator per biofuel.
