Strada

Strada is a platform for Climate Change Vulnerability Profiles and Local Adaptation Strategies in Indonesia. This platform is useful for anyone who wants to find adaptation strategies at the village (local) level based on the national climate change vulnerability profile at the village level. The vulnerability analysis combines publicly available spatial data, village-level data, and statistical and machine learning techniques to group villages into 61 clusters with similar characteristics. The profiles are complemented by taking stock of village-level climate adaptation strategies that can inform future interventions to address identified vulnerabilities. The purpose of the note is to promote a data-driven approach to understanding climate vulnerabilities and local adaptation strategies, with a view to informing targeted community-led interventions for long-term resilience in Indonesia.

Project objectives

This project aims to help stakeholders quickly conduct vulnerability profiling and climate change adaptation strategies in a village in Indonesia. This is expected to speed up the adaptation planning process at the community level. With this platform, it is easy for users to see the vulnerability profile and suitable adaptation strategies in a village. This platform will be built in the form of an online dashboard consisting of a list of villages throughout Indonesia divided by sub-region, province, city/district, sub-district, down to the village level.

Project Scope

The scope of version 1.0 are:

  • Development of an online dashboard platform that can display climate change vulnerability profiles and local adaptation strategies in each village
  • The name of this platform is STRADA (Adaptation Strategy)

  • The timeline for this activity is as follows:
    • 31 Maret 2023 - Business Requirements and Functional Specifications agreed
    • 3-7 April 2023 - 1st Sprint Development
    • 10-14 April 2023 - 2nd Sprint Development
    • 17-21 April 2023 - 3rd Sprint Development
    • 24-28 April 2023 - 4th Sprint Development
    • 1-4 May 2023 - 5th Sprint Development
    • 5 May 2023 -Soft Launching (Brown Bag at Worldbank)
    • 8-31 May 2023 - Roadshow to targeted users (ministries, local government, NGOs)

Budget

The budget of the project will be provided by The Worlbank, the budget components consists of:
* Mandays for Programmers (included on GFDRR?)
* Hosting, SSL & Domain (strada.or.id or adaptasi.org) ~ 300USD

  • Source code of adaptasi.or.id dashboard
  • Tabular data (SQL tables/dump, CSVs)
  • Spatial data (shp, or geojson)

Basic statistic of the villages also could be shown here.

Climate data page: This page should display the historical and current climate data for the selected village. This could include data such as temperature, rainfall, and humidity, and could be displayed in the form of charts or graphs.

Hazards page: This page should provide information on the types of climate hazards that the village faces, such as floods, landslides, or droughts. It could also include information on the frequency and severity of these hazards, as well as any specific risks or vulnerabilities that the village may have. This information can be derived from InaRISK data.

Adaptation strategies page: This page should outline the various strategies and measures that the village has put in place to adapt to climate change. This could include things like building sea walls, developing drought-resistant crops, or implementing early warning systems for extreme weather events.

Projects page: This page should display any ongoing or planned projects related to climate change adaptation in the selected village. Users should be able to see details about the project, its timeline, and its budget.

Resources page: This page should provide a list of helpful resources related to climate change adaptation, such as research papers, reports, or guidelines. Users should be able to filter resources by topic or format, and should be able to download or access them directly from the dashboard.
