Thanks for the report. This seems indeed to be an issue with LTO. It may be caused by mixing GCC and LLVM-based tools as those do LTO differently. That would explain why it worked for you when switching to Clang for the build.
LTO was enabled by default in early February when the default makepkg.conf was synchronized with the one that developers use to build arch packages: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/pacman/-/commit/c787e8c65e0b1c92a98f81e8dddf234042cbb4e9
I will push an update soon which disables LTO for both packages.
