Yes, i think a recent change made it rely on a recent version of pytest: pytest-dev/pytest@4914135#diff-88f1c75fb050d0d51012d296f035c2ea
Can you upgrade pytest?

Sure enough, updating pytest to 3.6.3 did not reproduce this error. Bumping the minimum required version would save some time downstream 😄

The dep update has been released with #12 in v0.3.1.

If that is the case, bumping the minimum version of pytest would be helpful. The CI build that I mentioned always does pip check to verify the dependencies are compatible.
Unfortunately, I cannot upgrade pytest yet (kevinkjt2000/bowser#161). (Edit: Nevermind, there was just some weirdness with Pipfile.lock when new dependencies are added.)
