MiKTeX

The MiKTeX Project Page is the place to go, if you are new to MiKTeX.

In short: MiKTeX is a modern C/C++ implementation of TeX & Friends for Windows, macOS and Linux. The MiKTeX source code is documented here: https://docs.miktex.org/hacking/index.html

MiKTeX is also a scalable TeX distribution ("Just enough TeX"):

• you have the option to start with MiKTeX executables and some configuration files
• in the course of authoring your documents, only necessary LaTeX packages, fonts etc. will be downloaded and installed

Building

MiKTeX can be built on Windows and Unix-like (including macOS) systems. Please consult these HOWTOs for platform-specific build instructions:

Failed to Create Docker container- useradd error

Hello,

I am trying to run miktex in docker but getting below error, I set my environment in my docker-compose file as below.

    environment:
      - USER_ID=joe -u
      - GROUP_ID=joe -g

groupadd: invalid group ID 'joe'
useradd: invalid user ID 'joe'
error: failed switching to "joe": unable to find user joe: no matching entries in passwd file

Please help me to solved this issue.

Not sure if the policy is to support/provide debs only for LTS?

Looking at the installation directions on the site, you may need to change the line in your miktex.list file to this:

deb http://miktex.org/download/ubuntu focal universe

==> bionic universe should be changed on download page of miktex,org
