Tools Unification

We need to unify the tools of the server, the https://github.com/Ombridride/minetest-minetestforfun-server/blob/master/Tableau-valeurs-MFF.ods is here for help us for this task.

  • Complete the Tableau-valeurs-MFF.ods with actual values for Axe and Shovel.

Next, we need to tweak the spreadsheet values to be more balanced 4ed234d :

Improved [death_message] mod

With the lastest added feature of "minetest_game" we can now collect the punch damage on a player so we can now improves the "death_message" mod with :

  • player death message against players (with the player killer name if it's possible) => 592ac4f
  • player death message against monsters (with the monster name if it's possible) => d347ba4
  • Write all death messages entries in a *.txt file on the ~/world/ folder => 8990897

EDIT : Need to wait the "0.4.13-Release" Minetest version, add a tag for 0.4.13 features

What's happening ?

"mt_essentials" mods

Parts of mt_essentials usefull for us ?

  • clear_inventory :
  • (/clearinv (optional) : clear your inventory)
  • => We already have this feature in the inventory GUI
  • players
  • (/players : list all players present on the server)
  • Add an alias for also used the command list_players
  • => do we have this feature out of the "/status" informations return ? This specified command can be useful, we need to try it (add a screenshot here ?) and maybe think about the integration of this mod

infinite world (no map limits)

The worldedge mod teleports the player to the other side of the world when they reach the edge.
When the player walks past 30000 in any direction they will be teleported to the other side of the world as if they walked around the world. (when you teleport to the other side you will be at ground height)

So, no worldmap limits can be reached ! :)

Better Mapgen

We planed to change the mapgen of the server, we need to test it in a local dev server, but it will be interresting for deleting highlandpools (too bugged), and with this mapgen we are going to have a very interresting mountains/rivers/etc... generation.

Comptability issue

It works with our actual core mapgen (v6) and it's written in Lua. (it's a mod so it overwrited the actual mapgen)

New [Commerce_Machines] Mod

This mod is a revised fork based on our old Money mod. This machines are more easy to use and are more beautiful, the mod is maintained by jp.

We need to comment the parts with commands like "/money", because it's not useful for us. (our money is coins, and this machines are here for trade between players) Maybe also delete the fields in formspec which call money values.

Better than "/timeonline".
The more commands alises we have, the better it is for players use :)

[Mapper] How to generate colors.txt

Here is a tutorial asked by @Ombridride to generate colors.txt file for minetest-mapper.

  • First, in the mapper repository, you will find this file : https://github.com/minetest/minetestmapper/blob/master/autogenerating-colors.txt . Open it.
  • In this file you will find three spaces. There are three steps to do :
    • Create a mod, called "dumpnodes" for example, and past the first part (except the banner) in its init.lua file.
    • Create a file called avgcolor.py , and paste the second part of this file into it (without the banner)
    • Finally, create a .shfile in which you will paste the third and last part of the file. Make sure avgcolor.py and.. maybe gencolors.sh are in the same directory.
  • Launch the server with the dumpnodes mod enabled. Use /dumpnodes.
  • Remove the mod (it's useless now)
  • Go to your mapper's directory, containing the .py and .sh file.
  • Get the nodes.txt file in minetest's bin directory and put it with the two other files.
  • Launch ./gencolors.sh. It may throw errors with texture you can't find the average color of, because they are invisibles.
  • You get a full colors.txt file written by gencolors.sh

This will be closed when the colors.txt will be generated.

Farming light

Elle est de nouveau à 13 au lieu de 11 (constante MIN_LIGHT dans 'init.lua' de farming), probablement à cause de la mise à jour fu mod.

Boat table

The boat mod will be added soon to the server, so we need to do some things :

  • Tweak the rotate speed of the Expert boat
  • A boat board needs to be added to the spreadsheet
  • And added to the website section "mods" (screenshot of the spreadsheet)

(players can't know what is the better boat without this...)

Show locked chest formspec to others or not ?

I'm looking at the chests and noticed that minetest_game decided to hide the formspec of a locked chest to anyone who's not the owner. On MFF, after the merge, the code to hide it blended with the code to show it, and doesn't work (Edit: I pushed the commit 3f9ffdc, wich more or less shows it). Hiding the formspec of locked chests would only work on newly built ones.

Someone has to decide if MFF will comply to the policy of minetest_game on the formspec of locked chests or not.

Lavashroom biome spawn

We need to tweak the "Lavashroom" spawn, it will be only under -200 !
(this mushroom is just biome, no craft recipe with it and no another uses, just here for make the surface biome heavier...)

Improved whoison mod

We need to improve this mod, because it's not enought accurate !

Sample exit of the mod at this moment : "player is online more than 2 weeks" (for a played time of 2week 6 days, 23hours...)
We need an exit like : "player has a total playing time of YY/MM/DD/HH/MM/SS" (Year/Mounth/Day/Hour/Minute/second)

We also need the alias "/played " for the command "/timeonline ", and if the player name is not specified, take the played time of the player who did the command

Multiples fonctions manquantes dans mobs/api.lua

Suite au merge de creeper et kamicaze dans mobs, de nombreuses fonctions inconnues ont été ajoutées. Parmi lesquels :

Il me faudrait une explication plus précise de @davedevils , car pour merger j'ai dû enlever les fonctions mais je n'ai pas idée de ce qu'elles devaient faire.

Beds problem

It seems like simple beds don't work to set the spawn, but fancy beds work.

Sunflowers problem

The sunflowers plants from the plantlife modpack is going to be a seriously (big) problem.
The spawn doesn't seems to be limited per chunck, so the sunflowers grows, grows, and grows again...
I can see right now chunck (100x100 areas) completely full of Sunflowers !

This problem needs to be fixed as soon as possible !

Mods Updates

Buckets problem

JAPP tolds me the water and lava can't be took by bucket !
We need to check that and fix the problem if it's really a problem...

Original message from JAPP : Impossible de prendre de l'eau ni de la lave. Même les seaux d'eau ne sont plus disponibles dans le craft guide lorsque l'on tape une recherche avec par ex bucket.

Avoid Mapgen lags

After a discussion with @VanessaE, the better solution for avoid the lag when players generate new chunks in the map is to use a deferred generating (like what plantlife does)

First, we need to list every mod wich generate something in new chuncks :

  • Flowers
  • Plantlife
  • riesenpilz
  • nether
  • maptools (superapple ?)
  • cheery trees
  • ...
  • ...

And then, we need to search the mod a generating time if it exist already, we can also ask the author of the mod to add it...

Finally, we need to tweak or add a deferred generating time :

  • Flowers (default subgame mod)
  • Plantlife (everything) => native with plant_lib
  • riesenpilz (mushrooms) => no more needed, mapgen changed
  • nether trees (forest and normal) => no needed, the nether generation is really fast
  • superapple from the maptools mod
  • cheery trees (differed time set to 2 second)
  • ...
  • ...

farming:straw vs darkage:straw

La paille de darkage a été supprimée au profit de celle de farming. La paille de darkage, darkage:straw, était enregistrée auprès de stairsplus, la scie de Calinou, et offrait bien plus de possibilités créatives que le bloc seul de farming, qui ne l'est pas. C'est la recette de paille de farming qu'il aurait fallu supprimer ou modifier, à mon avis, pour qu'elle produise un bloc darkage:straw plutot que farming:straw si darkage fait partie des mods (optionels).

New (Improved) [Fishing] Mod

Crabman works on a new fishing mod, it's very promising, and certainly the future best fishing mod of Minetest !

We don't have many informations to share for the moment, but Crabman still works on his fishing mod...

So, we will add this fishing mod when it will be over.

Add the [Warps] mod

Presentation :

This is a fairly simple warp mod, designed to make it easy for novice users to travel around a map without having to type in text commands, but without granting users permission to teleport to any location on the map.

Warps are created by the warp admin. Warp privilege needs to be granted to users (not enabled by default). The user can list and warp to the warp locations that exist.

Warp stones are available with /give and through a creative inventory. These stones work as one-way teleporters that can be programmed with a target by the warp_admin. No privileges are needed to use these warp stones. Users can't reprogram the target, only use it to warp. Users can also call the /warp command directly if they know the name of the warp location.

While warping, the user needs to stand still in one location for 5 seconds. This prevents combat escape and teleport overuse, as teleporting can cause large amounts of blocks to be loaded.

Tweaks we need :

  • Add the [Warps] mod
  • Allow commands only for admins (this mod is too powerfull for "normal users" in our HardCore server)
  • Replace the commandblocks at the spawn area with configured Warps teleporters Not needed since we reset the server

This mod is perfect to replace the commandblocks which are very ugly and very buggy (when a player lag and punch the button of the command block more than 1 time, the command block teleport more than 1 nearest player...).

New Hud Bars

This Hud Bars are better than what we actualy use, in many points :

  • Progress Bars more Accurate
  • No more hunger bar bug (see 20 point instead of 30)
  • More "RPG-like"
  • We read it more easily
  • Better for big amount of mana (100 to 300 for example)
  • etc...

Many mods are parts of a complete hud so, maybe we need to do a modpack with it ?

We need to fix our compatibility problems wich stop us the previous time we tried to merge this hud bars !

Add "compassgps" mod

The CompassGPS mod creates a customizable compass with user settable bookmarks and shared and admin bookmarks in multiplayer. We can also make and distribute unique maps for events like "treasures hunts", it's very funny !

The administrator can also teleport him to the bookmarked locations

Mod security breaking mods

The rencently (this night) added mod security in minetest is a feature limitating mods' access to the system, its contents and features. It can be enabled this way :

secure.enable_security = true

However, some of our mods require access to the system and/or libraries. The most known example is IRC. Two mods are at the moment broken with this feature : IRC (for its libs) and apparently snow (it might be a bug, but it only appear with mod security enabled when it tries to load something in its path).
There is in fact two ways to make them work with the security feature. First, mods can require an unsecure environment with minetest.request_unsecure_environment(), and second, they can be added into a whitelist like this :

secure.trusted_mods = irc, snow

That's it.

What we need to do :

  • Update IRC

Too much monsters !

There are too much monsters ! Even at day-time !
The spiders spawn too much : I many times had three spiders in 30 voxels of distance.

CGT ASKINGS :

  • There are two much spawning monsters on the server !
  • Swords don't have enough damage points ! It's boring to take 15 seconds to kill a monster !

Problem with glasses

Texture problem

The mod framedglass has a problem with it's texture, if you don't have activated connected_glass in your minetest graphical configuration (or minetest.conf), you see ugly grey nodes wich replaced the original texture...

The problem isn't here with another mod like the default glasses or with an another mod like stained_glass mod

Connected option missing

The "clean_glass" doesn't have the connected option, we need to add it !
