So I found that when I update my Matrix server this client will connect but then the old connection also reconnects. This ends up leading to matrix receive nodes receiving multiple messages since there are multiple connections to the matrix server listening for them.

I know this project is pretty much abandoned so I am just putting this here so others know about it if they want to fix these issues.

Would be awesome if this supported files. I would love to take snap shots from my cameras and send them over a matrix chat room.

Right now, the nodes just send their text "as-is" and I cannot seem to get any "formatting" to work.
Do I cannot use the # or the ## to get headers and stuff....

Any suggestions on that?

I'm not super familiar with matrix yet, just getting started. From what I can tell it not possible to encrypt a chat with the current setup (nodered doesn't have keys etc). Would it be possible to add that support?

It seems that this was only a proof of concept.
Are there any alternatives to send messages to matrix or any other open source messaging system?

Use credentials so that they are stored separately from the main flow file.

With no obvious pattern, the bot sometimes sends the same message multiple times (up to 10, 12 times) in a row. Debug output shows that the datagram only arrives once at the matrix bot node.
