eth-cil-exam-summary's Issues

7.1 EM for pLSA

There is a small error in the Log-Likelihood objective. The second term should be:

instead of:

As he mentioned in the lecture, the X of the second sum contains elements multiple times.

[Discussion] LDA: latend dirichlet allocation

This is missing completely since we don't really have space for it.
However, I think it is also pretty irrelevant since the lecture does not go into detail and only presents the general idea.

What do you think?

[Addition] 4. K-means: Clustering Stability

In lecture 4 we also discussed clustering stability, including:

  • Distance between clusters
  • Calculation of stability
  • Normalization of stability

We could consider adding those formulas to the summary, but I am not sure if this is relevant or if we have enough space. I can make a pull request if there is nothing more important we can add.

Sparse Coding

There is not a lot about it; things one could add:

.difference haar/fourier (in general that different bases needed for different signals)
.advantage/disadvantage PCA vs fixed basis
.overcomplete dicts and their advantages, disadvantages (mainly inversion)
.noisy observations?

What do we need?

K-means stopping condition

Not sure if the condition on the summary is equivalent, but in the slides the k-means stopping condition is given by:

Whereas in the summary it states:
