Bootcompiler Error occurred during initialization of VM

Steps to recreate:

• on windows 7 (linux builds fine)
• clone fresh copy
• build

What should happen:

• successful build

What is happening:

• build script prints this:

  [ 12%] Building the bootcompiler
  Error occurred during initialization of VM
  Could not reserve enough space for object heap
  Could not create the Java virtual machine.
  make[2]: *** [bootcompiler/CMakeFiles/bootcompiler] Error 1
  make[1]: *** [bootcompiler/CMakeFiles/bootcompiler.dir/all] Error 2
  make: *** [all] Error 2

Solution: adjust the memory setting on the JVM (despite my machine being pretty damn beefy)
Note: in the past week or so I have successfully compiled this project on windows. I have retried building the project with all programs closed, same error happens.
