django-raven-metlog is a set of plugins for the Raven client of Sentry to enable routing of raven messages through metlog when you are running a Django application.

The primary use of this is to standardize metlog integration into Playdoh applications.

The advantage of doing so allows metlog to act as a centralized client to route all logging messages. This greatly simplifies testing as you can always just query the metlog client to see what messages have been sent.

More information about how Mozilla Services is using Metlog (including what is being used for a router and what endpoints are in use / planning to be used) can be found on the relevant spec page.

django-raven-metlog's Issues

CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md file missing

As of January 1 2019, Mozilla requires that all GitHub projects include this CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md file in the project root. The file has two parts:

  1. Required Text - All text under the headings Community Participation Guidelines and How to Report, are required, and should not be altered.
  2. Optional Text - The Project Specific Etiquette heading provides a space to speak more specifically about ways people can work effectively and inclusively together. Some examples of those can be found on the Firefox Debugger project, and Common Voice. (The optional part is commented out in the raw template file, and will not be visible until you modify and uncomment that part.)

If you have any questions about this file, or Code of Conduct policies and procedures, please reach out to [email protected].

(Message COC001)

Missing project_id occasionally causes Sentry to reject messages

The existing test cases did not capture an error which is triggered when we are attempting to route messages to a Sentry where the project_id > 1.

The base class of djangoraven.metlog.MetlogDjangoClient is raven.base.Client.

The Client class requires a DSN to properly populate the event['project'] attribute.

If no project is set, the Client class will autofill in a project id of "1" which will trigger an error on the Sentry server.
