popcoder's Issues

At least one broad functional test

I suggest we use popcoder/tests/test_main.py to make one full run actually using ffmpeg. Put a something.json file in popcoder/tests/ and kick it off from a unittest class in test_main.py. The test can't obviously look at the outputted final video file but it should at least not error.

The sample .json file should do all supported operations. It might also be something we can re-use from setup.py for developers. E.g. "To test that it works, run python setup.py sampleencoding and then open and look at foo.webm" or something like that.

Wiki changes

FYI: The following changes were made to this repository's wiki:

  • defacing spam has been removed

  • the wiki has been disabled, as it was not used

These were made as the result of a recent automated defacement of publically writeable wikis.

CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md file missing

As of January 1 2019, Mozilla requires that all GitHub projects include this CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md file in the project root. The file has two parts:

  1. Required Text - All text under the headings Community Participation Guidelines and How to Report, are required, and should not be altered.
  2. Optional Text - The Project Specific Etiquette heading provides a space to speak more specifically about ways people can work effectively and inclusively together. Some examples of those can be found on the Firefox Debugger project, and Common Voice. (The optional part is commented out in the raw template file, and will not be visible until you modify and uncomment that part.)

If you have any questions about this file, or Code of Conduct policies and procedures, please see Mozilla-GitHub-Standards or email [email protected].

Multiple lossy encoding kills video quality for edits

Since we are encoding into a lossy format, multiple edits (which translates to multiple ffmpeg commands) ends up re-encoding the video multiple times. Thus ruining the quality of the video. The encoding for intermediary steps needs to be translated into a lossless format.
