Use emoji images
This is how it looks on my machine:
I see that it uses the AppleColorEmoji font, but that is not loaded on my machine.
So, what I propose is to use the emoji images. 💣 Nice project, btw! 😄

Some bugs
When there is only one column, there is a very high chance that whichever you press, it always show game over.
When there is two columns, there is a very high chance that the numbers don't show the true number of mine around them.
