elk-herd-project's Issues

Nothing happens after sending project.

Describe the bug
I can fetch the project and make edits to the sample pool then when I click on send project the progress bar comes up in elk heard but nothing happens on the digitakt.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Fetch Project
  2. Make edits to sample pool
  3. Send project
  4. Elk heard progress bar
  5. No progress bar on digitakt
  6. Changes aren't realised on digitakt

Environment (please complete the following information):
Digitakt 1.11

Don't rescan samples every time page reloaded

name: Don't rescan every time page reloaded
about: Various actions cause the page to rescan the entire digitakt for samples etc, this could be avoided by having the tables cached locally and only re-cached when you refresh with a button.

Various actions cause the page to rescan the entire digitakt for samples etc

Describe the solution you'd like
Seems like this info could be cached locally and only scan once when you load and after that only when you click a "rescan" button.

Look in all projects for sample usage.

Not sure if this one is possible, but it would be nice if you could look in ALL projects for usage of a sample, not just all patterns.
This may not be possible however so feel free to close this one :D

Problems with Linux

@vamoscreciendo

Fetching project from Digitakt, could not load the project:
Project dump does not have all the patterns.
...
I am having some problems to put projects back to the digitakt. In the page I can read " sending projects to digitakt, and then I see the bar getting full, but digitakt is not receiving anything. I am not in Overbridge mode, and I am able to fetch the project and make a backup. Although it is not working every time. Right now is taking some time to fetch a project and I saw the message “the communication is wrong, try ?slow”
I am in Google Chrome Version 77.0.3865.90, does this has something to do with me being in linux?
Now Chrome froze and I lost the connection. But reprobe, i got the message “no compatible device found” even if I see “Elektron Digitakt” in the Midi Devices list… even my computer is freezing a little bit by this… :-/
...
I thought that the problem might be with JACK, which is a sound manager (http://jackaudio.org/) so I tried without it. And still having the same problems.

Possible bug with v3.0 beta 3

Hi Mzero,

Brilliant work you have done so thanks for providing this, it really helps a lot especially for creating live sets from existing projects using the merge.

I appear to be seeing strange behaviour with the latest version, pretty sure it worked fine with the previous version.

I have loaded a project from a saved project file that has a mixture of samples loaded from +drive and the sound pool and then clicked to select unused samples, but it has missed out the samples from slots 80 -127 (which are not used in any pattern). A screen grab is shown below:

Annotation 2019-11-04 221737

I also found if I then deleted the selected unused and then crunched them down and saved the project back to Digitakt, then fetched it again it has filled all the unused patterns saying 2 samples are being used (0 & 1), even though there are no other patterns with trigs.

Annotation 2019-11-04 222852

When I fetch any project it seems to think that all patterns are full, with the ghost patterns as above saying they are using 2 samples (slot 0 & 1).

Annotation 2019-11-04 224327

Is there still an active link to beta 2 so I can try it there?

Thanks. regards, Andrew

move / copy kits

@obk

One wishlist feature I would love would be a tool to copy just the kit information to another pattern. The kit implementation on the DT seems half-finished, you can save and reload just kit information, but you can’t simply copy it to another pattern. If i had a way to keep kits (ideally with midi page info too!) across multiple patterns with slightly different sequences in sync, that would be super dreamy.

Describe the bug
hello,

Add Syntakt support

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Syntakt users like myself are frustrated by the project and pattern management tools available. elk-herd seems to be the best tool for managing projects on Digitakt.

Describe the solution you'd like

Please investigate the difficulty of adding Syntakt support, to allow easier reorganization of projects. If possible, add SYntakt support to elk-herd.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I've tried Elektron Transfer (doesn't allow moving patterns within or between projects), elektroid (could not build on macOS), and SysEx Librarian (unclear how to move projects within the SysEx files).

send Clock Stop before sending project

@obk

I did try it while my pattern was playing and the DT froze however. I didn’t lose any data though! I rebooted and tried it while it wasn’t playing and had no issue.

Project not fetching with OS 1.30

Hi !
Just made the update to DT OS 1.30 and my projects are not fetching anymore :(
This update looks very important with lots of changes, I hope that it's only something I've done wrong and that I will find the right settings but I have been trying for two days and kind of desperate right now ...
I would be SO HAPPY if anyone can help me to fix this !!!

  1. manage your Digitakt - elk-herd is scanning the +Drive OK - download and upload samples is OK
  2. click on "Project"
  3. click on "Fetch Project"
  4. "Fetching project from digitakt" bar is not moving - I have to close or refresh the window - nothing happens in the DT
  5. tried both mode USB MIDI or MIDI+AUDIO - not working
  6. tried to create a new project and fetch it - not working
  7. tried to power cycle the machine, unplugged the connection, updating Chrome - not working

environnement :

  • elk-herd 3.0
  • OS 10.13.6 High Sierra
  • Chrome
  • DT OS 1.30

Thank you some much in advance for your help :)
Best

can't send back to DT

@deepmoses

At first all good, connected to the digitakt and I was able to save a back up of the project and then start rearranging samples, but when I went to send the project back to the DT it didn’t work, there was a progress bar showing on chrome but nothing was sent back to the DT. Did a power cycle tried again but same result.

It seems to also disconnect and not be able to see the DT after a few minutes of being idle, disconnecting the USB doesn’t work, I have to power cycle it back up for it to connect to the app again.

When moving samples around I noticed that every so often the drag and drop motion wasn’t working, it would pick and drag but wouldn’t drop them in the new location.

  • I’m connected via USB directly to my Mid 2012 Macbook Pro. I’m on High Sierra 10.13.6
  • I’m in Overbridge mode, Overbridge version 2.0.19.2
  • I use the Transfer app regularly, no, never had a similar experience with it that I can think of

I set the DT to USB Midi and that seemed to work. I rearranged a bunch of samples and then sent the project back to the DT but sorry to say all the patterns were playing the wrong samples… so I reloaded the project and things were back to normal. Also, I noticed that one sample slot showed “???”, on the DT that slot was empty.

Fetch Project not working with Digitakt 1.50

Hey there,

I noticed Fetching Project is not working with the new Digitakt 1.50 upgrade. It just gets stuck on the Fetching Project buffer bar.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue? Cheers.

Sound Pool lost

The sound pool can be lost...

  1. Load up a project. Add some sounds to the sound pool. Create a pattern with a track that has some sound plocks. (Don't load the sound into the track, instead plock a trig to a sound in the sound pool.)
  2. SysEx dump this project and save it on your computer.
  3. Load up a project without any sound pool entries. The "PRESETS" project will do fine.
  4. Now send the SysEx dump you saved before. You should be able to play the pattern with the sound pool plock, and hear the sound - as the sound pool should have been restored with the dump. You can verify that the sound pool is populated.
  5. Turn off the Digitakt.
  6. Turn on the Digitakt.
  7. The pattern is there, but the sound pool is empty.

Work around:
After step 4 above:

4a. Save the project on the Digitakt.
4b. Immediately load the project you just saved.

problems with Overbridge mode

@Garten

I guess it was just my error but make sure, you have usb-midi enabled and not Overbrigde mode in the digitakt settings, otherwise it won’t work. Other than that, it works great!

Would like to contribute

Sorry, don't see another way to contact. But I am a frontend dev with 10+ years of intense experience. Quit my job recently to take a break and work on music, and would love to contribute to this project somehow while I have the time.

"Transfer failed: Timed out waiting for instrument response." on Linux with Analog Rytm mkI

I am unable to transfer files to my Analog Rytm MKI from Linux. Here's what I'm seeing:

  • Connected AR directly to computer via USB (the official red cable from Elektron FWIW).
  • Power cycled the AR.
  • On the AR, in Settings > MIDI Config > Port Config screen, set both Input From and Output To to USB.
  • Refreshed elk-herd app in Chrome. The app correctly recognizes the AR and its OS version.
  • Clicked "Manage Your Analog Rytm".
  • Selected +Drive / incoming (don't know if that's necessary).
  • On the AR navigated to [Global] Samples / incoming
  • Clicked "Send Sample File" and selected a wav file.
  • Pop-up in Chrome says "Sending" and displays a progress bar. On the AR I can see the filename inside the incoming directory along with a progress bar.
  • After a short time an error pop-up appears in Chrome: "Transfer failed: Timed out waiting for instrument response." On the AR the file no longer appears in the incoming dir.
  • After a short time the error pop-up disappears. The filename is listed in a right-hand column of the "+Drive" section. If I click "Scan +Drive" the file disappears.

Computer: Lenovo X1 Yoga, Linux Debian 10 (stable)
Browser: Chrome Version 78.0.3904.97 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Device: Analog Rytm MKI, OS 1.50

If the elk-herd app printed out logs or other debugging info I'd be happy to include that but it doesn't seem to.

Thanks for all your work on this! It'd be really neat to be able to use my AR without having to run Windoze in a VM.

Backup with Samples

@Falconetti:

Thinking of backup functions like “Backup all projects + samples” or “Backup project + samples” - where you get a folder per project containing project data + samples.
