The documentclass options alwaysshowauthor and alwaysshowdata only give output when slidenumbers is either slide or relative[src]. This seems counterintuitive, because of the word 'always' in the option.

I think there are two options:

1. change the documentation in example.tex to reflect this dependency
2. make the author and date display independent of the slide number

The easiest would be number one, of course. That would also solve this issue, because it clarifies that the effect of both options rely on slidenumbers.

With texlive 2017 I'm getting errors like this one https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/383668/mktextfm-ecss0400-fails.

If/when I find a fix I'll send a PR, but in the mean time here's a heads-up.

Hello, I use your template in landscape Mode and tried to add more information to the header part where also the department and insitute name goes. I would like to add pictures there and my co-promoters!
