brew-ds

A Data Scientist is just a statistician with a Mac

brew-ds aims to set up your MacOS system with common Data Science tools using the package manager brew, R's install.packages and python's pip.

Usage

Default usage

git clone [email protected]:nathaneastwood/brew-ds.git
cd brew-ds
. build.sh

This installs in verbose mode by default. If you would like to use quiet mode and reduce output then please use the -q flag. You will be prompted for your password, administrator privileges are required to install some pre-requisite software (xcode command line tools).

Warning

Linux is deprecated. A linux user should build a better version for their system or perhaps a group should be made for linuxbrew that does it all through that.

brew-ds's Issues

Documentation

The README needs to document the running modes of the program. It should explain what the -q and -h flags do and give example usage.

Previously installed software

We should request permission to remove the previous installations of everything we installed so that it doesn't die when brew tries to link.

Show more output in the console

Currently it looks as though the script is hanging when it is doing long installations. We need to show more output in the console.

Get Travis working

I made a whoopsie w/ wget

You don't have wget by default with Mac OS

Suggest replacing that with curl equivalent
