Ok, I'll try to setup an Ubuntu VM to reproduce it, let me know if you find some clues about why it's not working

Just to make sure, does it detect correctly addons installed with npm? For example this one https://www.npmjs.com/package/generator-addon-example

BTW, I use nvm to manage the nodejs version(in the home dir ~/.nvm/versions).
