Right now you have to specify a path, and get the volume mounting details just right.

It'd be great if it checked the repo you were on, and mounted the root of the repo into the container environment appropriately

Unclear what to do about this one.

Podman may solve this naturally by way of accessing the files via fuse, which runs in the calling user's space. (SELINUX may be an issue).

Docker -- might be able to solve this with "-u $(id -u):$(id -g)" on the docker command line? feels wrong, but might be the best option.
