This rule is redundant, so it can be prevented from being considered valid. Alternatively, step through the code and see what it's doing -- there could be similar rules that should be valid and misbehave.

There is an obvious memory leak with bitmaps in 1-D automata that can be seen by opening a simulation window, letting it execute for some time, closing it, and opening another. The second window will run notably slower. The bitmaps probably were never disposed, use using statements.

LHS and RHS symbols used in the wrong place will probably crash the program. Just make a simple check that they are used in the correct place.

If the main window is closed, child windows should be closed as well so the program can end.

It will make a gap before the first generation if pressed before the simulation begins, or it will make a gap after the most recent generation. It is probably not being refreshed to the screen.

Setting changes should update with open simulation windows, or main window should be disabled while a simulation is open.
