Cannot get value from function about alive

To add. I think it might have something to do with sending a non quoted value. I thought I have done this before. What would be a fix? I also think i see some logic issues but thats a me problem to sort out.

I was so focused on checking some parts i neglected others.

I developed this in two seperatly. Copied and pasted together, forgot about global variables.

Ok, I'll close it. I didn't see anything obvious that would cause the problem. I would need to run it to figure out what was going on.

Only code review thing would be that the common practice is to only use if when both branches are present. If you only have a true branch, use when. If there's only an else branch, use unless. So, (if (not foo)...) becomes (unless foo ...).

Okay, Im unfamiliar with those parts of the language. Ill try to use them in part 4 of the assignment.
