I run sysmonBox and then opened sysmon viewer > imported pcap but I can't find any additional data e.g the pcap related to a dns query, or am I missing something, how does it work?

There is a lot of indicators about Malware. Could be nice to have sources to help people collaborate with and ensure no backdoor are in it.

I think this was an unintentional mistake, but if you download SysmonShell from current commit (8bc3ce0), it's actually expanding to sysmonview in both cases. P

I can’t find a way to edit rules. Not sure if I am missing something. I can load an xml, create and delete rules but am unable to edit a rule.

what‘s the pass

This tool is amazing. Is there any plan to support JSON so this would be used after data has processed and landed in a data lake or hung off kafka to view an entire Enterprise worth of devices? Exporting the data and loading it using response tools works for individual investigations but this would be great on an enterprise scale.

I have configured Sysmon View with my IPstack API key and chose to geolocate IPs during the Sysmon XML import however I do not see any data in the Map View. I see a bunch of Network Connection detected events within my Sysmon log yet not a single entry is listed on the map. I logged in to my IPStack account and can see zero API requests for my account. It also looks like it's not pulling any info from VirusTotal either. What am I doing wrong? How can I get Sysmon View to properly show the map data and VirusTotal info?

I downloaded the 64.zip and 32.zip files for sysmonshell and sysmonview. All of the zip files contain a file named sysmonShell.exe. I did not find an executable named sysmonView.exe. Am I making an incorrect assumption that there should be a sysmonView.exec?

Thanks for your work. Is there yet another plan to release an updated version supporting Schema 4.00?

Sysmon v7.0 (published on January 2, 2018) uses Sysmon Schema 4.00 and is no longer compatible with current output version 3.40:

Loading configuration file with schema version 3.40
Sysmon schema version: 4.00
Error: Incorrect or unsupported schema version 3.40. Current Sysmon schema version 4.00

It is updated for Sysmon 6.1 w/Wmi filtering.

The files in the SysmonView folder and the files in the SysmonShell folder are identical, there all the SysmonShell files.

your work looks great but it seems that it does not support the current sysmon schema 3.40. I was wondering if you plan to release an updated version that would support 3.40?

Why don't you publish the source code of SysmonView and SysmonShell ?

I am interested in using sysmonview but my employer won't allow me to use the tool as it is. Do you plan to open source this or sell it? Either model would make it easier to implement where I work.
