Hi,
I'm working on a dataset that includes average tallies of sea lice (parasitic copepods) per farmed salmon. After some discussion with colleagues, we've decided to report this using a generic "average number of parasites per host fish" as our measurementType.
Creation of a measurementTypeID for "average number of parasites per host" would help with future reporting on these datasets. If one already exists that we might've overlooked, please direct us to a URL.
Thank you!

We've received a request to modify the description of "Length of sampling track" (http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/P01/current/LENTRACK/) so that it can be applied to benthic samplers as well as sampling transects and pelagic net sampling.

'The linear distance along which a sample was collected or an observation was made, such as a beach transect length or the track of a net through water for pelagic samples or the track along the seafloor for benthic samples'

Definition: Concentration of nitrogen biomass per m2 of macrolagae. Macroalgae (or seaweed) grows above all other benthic plants (corals, seagrasses, benthic microalgae). It is parameterised as a non-calcifying leafy algae, with a C:N:P ratio of 550:30:1, and a formulation for calculating the percentage of the bottom covered as 1-exp(-ΩMA MA). In the model, in the absence of both calcifying macroalgae (particularly Halimeda) and unicellular epiphytes, macroalgae represents the biomass of all seaweeds and epiphytes.

Hi,
In a dataset, the depth where a sample was taken is described in relative terms. E.G "2 meter above the sea floor", "at the thermocline", "1 meter below the sea surface"
Could a P01 be created for this? I was thinking something like:
Label: Depth [descriptive] of sampling or measuring activity below the sea surface.
Definition: A description of the sampling depth below the surface. Values include "at thermocline", "2 m above the seafloor"

There are 32 occurrences of non-unique preferred labels in P01 that need to be investigated and fixed through deprecation of the redundant terms.
The following codes have just been added to the NVS for an EMODnet chemistry request (URIs will be live shortly after 0200UTC):
Two P01 codes:
TDEOPBF1 Concentration of 2,4'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane {o,p'-DDD mitotane CAS 53-19-0} per unit volume of the water body [dissolved plus reactive particulate phase]
DDEOPBF1 Concentration of 2,4'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene {o,p'-DDE CAS 3424-82-6} per unit volume of the water body [dissolved plus reactive particulate phase]
Have been wrongly described as "filtered" in the alternative label and in the description.
It is proposed to correct the alternative label and the description to match the preferred label and be consistent with P01 conventions. If the sample had been filtered it would have had a preferred label of the type "dissolved plus reactive particulate phase <unknown phase].

Request for new P01 codes for surface current radial velocity, radial velocity standard error, and direction by high frequency radar.
In order to migrate the terms to our new physical entity model, we first need to define the term "Surface elevation" in our parameter entity vocabulary (nvs-vocabs/S06#6) and create records in the datum vocabulary (S20) for each sea surface elevation reference point.
Constraining the P01 preferred label against the new model will mean that the preferred label will change slightly from e.g.
"Surface elevation (UK Admiralty Chart Datum) of the water body by radar water level recorder"
to
"Surface elevation relative to UK Admiralty Chart Datum of the water body by radar water level recorder"

Definition: Concentration of nitrogen biomass per m2 of a seagrass form parameterised to be similar to Zostera. This form captures light after it has passed through macroalgae and before it passes through Halophila. This form is better adapted to high light, low nutrient conditions than Halophila as a result of a deeper root structure and being able to shade it. See macroalgae for elemental ratio and bottom cover.
