If you want to make changes and have a different palette for the theme, you can clone the theme (or clone one of the two official jupyterlab themes, which is what I did to make this one), and then change the colors however you want in the style/variables.css
file. It took me some trial and error changing things, rebuilding the extension, and seeing what the result was, in order to figure out what variables correspond to different elements in the UI, so it's a time consuming process, but that's how I went about this. Let me know if you have any other questions.
