Implements the MPRIS2 interface for Chrome and Firefox
Firstly, thank you very much for this awesome extension. Installed it on my Chromium (Debian), and I'm loving it!
To make it more accessible to users, it would be nice to publish it to Chrome Web Store, so anyone can experiment this awesomeness without having to bother with manual installation.
I personally had to spend many hours to find the problem and installing required python packages, until it finally worked. Many other users may quit because of this annoying step.
Thank you!
Hey, is there any specific installation instructions for Firefox? I kinda assumed just running native/install-firefox.py
would do it, but it didn't. It just asked for an extension ID, which I randomly set, but I didn't know what else to do next.
EDIT: I already copied chrome-mpris2
to ~/bin
and already confirmed that it was added to $PATH
but no improvements.
Need to test more when and why this happens but basically:
Once I change the status via the player at least once, the player starts refreshing correctly.

Anyone else with a similar behaviour?
Another //enhancement possibility :)
I get this error:
Error in event handler for (unknown): Error: Attempting to use a disconnected port object
background.js:16 (función anónima) (anonymous function)
programPort.postMessage(msg); -> is highlighted in the error report at extensions section in Google Chrome
Thanks
I'm using a patched version of Chromium on Unity and followed the installation instructions, and still can't seem to get this extension to work.
Excuse me for the lack of details, please tell me what kind of logs/output would be helpful, so that I can provide the necessary information.
Below is the error the browser console is printing when pressing Play/Pause on a video.
I just wanted to let you know that I've ported chrome-mpris2 to use websockets and userscripts instead of being a Chrome extension here.
Excuse me if this post is just to show this off.
Spotify support would be a life changer for me and I'm sure others would be helped too. Unfortunately I am not capable enough to do it myself. Just thought I would get it in your mindset :p
Just making todo list(if it exists) bigger 😄
Would be nice to have
// enhancement
Hey @otommod,
Thanks for this promising development!
I shared your repo with upstream.
Let's hope they integrate mpris2 into official Chromium. :-)
Dear @otommod,
Can you give me some help with the installation instructions?
I didn't return any result. Next, went to YouTube and started to play a video but I cannot see how to control the video from GNOME top panel notification where you usually find players controls.
Thanks for your help!
