6.0001---mit's Introduction

6.001---MIT

Here are my solutions to the problem sets in the 6.0001 course at MIT. I watched the course videos at edX and the problem sets here were downloaded from the OCW website. There isn't much of a difference between OCW and edx's problem sets. I did see both ;)

The problem set 5 is incomplete. I think there is some problem with the given code - in function read_trigger_config(). If you can help me out, please do! However, I modified it to create a slightly different project that filters news feed only from Google News and does not use a triggers.txt file.

I decided to include the dates of when these were written in the code(I use Spyder) to not freak people(and future me!) out.

I also wrote a blog about my journey through this course.

If you have any doubts regarding the solutions, feel free to contribute or mail me at [email protected]

Noob Question

Hello palashsharma, I am a complete noob so I apologize if this question sounds dumb, but on your answer for ps1c you have portion_saved = ??? which causes a syntax error. What do you have to change the ??? value to to make the program run? Thank you for your time :)

wrong logarithm in pset 0

Hi, shouldn't it be specified in the log() that it is in base 2 since that is what the pset asks? Now it gives the natural logarithm of x instead.

ps5 RSS news feed

Hi @palashsharma891,
I wonder if you had the same problem as myself in ps5.
My code pass all of ps5_test tests, yet the tkinter will show an empty pop up no matter what triggers i apply.

I cloned your solution and tried to run it, but I got the same result. I tried to fix it in various ways but couldn't get it to work, hence i suspect that our code is not the problem, but something on the lines of a change in the yahoo/google news xml schemem (less likely), or a change in the tkinter library with taking into account that we probably used a more advanced version of python than the one used back when the course was enrolled (probably ~3.2).

what exactly is the bug that you experienced? is it the same as the bug i encountered?
BTW your code is very slick good job ๐Ÿ‘
