Using a dash in the crate name is problematic since importing a crate with a dash in the name causes all sorts of errors.

The simplest way around this is to specify the dependency not as

hmac-sha1 = "0.2.1"

but as

hmac_sha1 = { package="hmac-sha1", version="0.2.1" }

Could you either replace the dash with underscore in the crate name or document how to import it in cargo (see above) so that the dash does not cause issues?
