Hi, Catalyst does indeed try to do the right thing depending on if your application is installed or if it looks to be a developer checkout. I realize behavior might not be as desired, but in the absence of a specific error and or test case I am not sure how to help you. Closing this ticket, but please feel free to get back to us.
