input method: I see English - English (US); I click ADD; then the setup window freezes, and I can C-c to kill it.
The Chinese keyboard input method cannot be activated using s-SPC or any other methods.
What I miss in the process?

As you use the different path the icon pack themes (like at Gnome-Look, OpenDesktop, etc.) can not recognise your apps icons.
You should change from ...
Icon=...chinese.svg
to Icon=ibus-chinese
Icon=/usr/share/ibus-libpinyin/icons/ibus-pinyin.svg
to Icon=ibus-pinyin
Icon=/usr/share/ibus-libpinyin/icons/ibus-bopomofo.svg
to Icon=ibus-bopomofo
Then the icon pack theme, like Moka, Numix, Paper and Suru++ will recognise the icons.

Hi there,
After upgrade to debian 10 for a very long time, still like to using ibus-pinyin as usual, but found the sort frequency words feature has been disappeared, some of words has lots of high frequent input times and i have to select again and again many times. now it uses the default sort sequence.
How to re-set or configure this feature again?
How to reproduce this issue?
Activated ibus-pinyin in GTK, then input your frequent words and verify that.

Intelligent Pinyin用数字键选中某个词发生崩溃,使用空格键选择首个不会发生崩溃,但用数字键选择某项会直接显示数字,然后输入法崩溃。
Often I try to type a sentence that ends with 吗, which I believe is a very common word especially at the end of a sentence. Most of the time though, the first suggestion is 马 or some other syllable.
I have enabled "Sort candidates by frequency" and also "Remember every input as a phrase". So when I type a sentence the second time, it is usually suggested correctly, however similar sentences will still have the same problem.
Take for example the sentences 你能跟我一起去吗 and 你认识这个女人吗. For the second example, the second suggestion was correct, so the solution was as easy as pressing "2", however for the first example, it was more of a hassle to get the correct sentence together.
Another word with the same problem is 吧 at the end of sentences.
Is there any way to solve this?
I am using 1.12.0-3 on Debian bullseye.
When I click on "Preferences" button in Input Method section in IBus Preferences, nothing happened.
Further investigation got me this log running IBus Preferences from the terminal:

Another input method Anthy can open the preferences menu just fine.
I'm currently learning chinese and to write 书, i write "shu".
I'm able to write the word even if I don't know the tone.
It's convenient but it doesn't help me remembering it...
Is there a way to display the correct pinyin for every listed words ? Like : "书 (shū)"
After upgrade my debian 8 to 9 I found that ibus-pinyin 1.5.0 will hide terminal cursor once it input any chinese words, it works fine in debian 8.
And the terminal curosr will come back once I have switched to ibus english, so it seems ibus pinyin 1.5.0 has some problems with terminal(gnome-terminal and terminator)
How to reproduce this issue?
This issue is not only happens in a terminal console but also in VIM.
BTW, I found that SunPinyin works fine.

The documentation doesn't say how to enter characters which contains ü and I had to figure out using the Pinyin Wikipedia page and the article on this special to guess I had to use the v letter to do it.
I tried to update the English FAQ on Google Code but I can't see how to do it (maybe I need special permissions?)
On ibus, I encountered a bug that I hadn't come across (using mostly US-Eng, or Korean hangul and Pinyin through ibus).
The gist is that ibus-pinyin uses the most recent previous input method editor as the underlying input method editor for the latinate pinyin (before the string of letters is converted to a hanzi).
This means that if one is on plain US-Eng and then switches to pinyin, everything works as expected. If someone is on an AZERTY layout (e.g., German) and then switches to pinyin, the "q" and "a" will be switched geographically, affecting how one types in qian 全. If the last input was a simple, non-Latinate script like Russian Cyrillic, then Pinyin will not even function.
While I understand the desire of some to have non-QWERTY layouts for pinyin -- i.e., being able to type "zhong 中" on the AZERTY layout using what would be "whong" on the US-Eng keyboard -- the default behavior for every other input method editor for every other platform that I have seen defaults to using underlying US-Eng. This countering voice of make AZERTY pinyin available should be opt-in. The behavior as of now mandates that one will cycle to the preferred method entering characters for pinyin, then switching directly to pinyin. Otherwise, pinyin will not operate as expected or not operate at all if the last input method was a non-Latin simple script like Hebrew or Russian!
In fact, this standard (US-Eng) is so ubiquitous that other input method editors like hangul use this layout. Within Hangul (Korean script) are three switchable input methods -- Latin script, hangul and Korean version of 漢字 (hanja). Japanese script can do a 1:1 mapping of the Q key to the た hiragana, or it can be used like pinyin -- write a syllable in semi-phonetic Latin and then convert to the string to a single Japanese character. Here, the underlying keyboard is assumed to be US English.
Since fujiwarat closed the bug and suggested contacting ibus-pinyin, I thought it would be wise to do so.
For ease of transition to Linux, we need to pay attention to how people use their computers.
It would probably make sense to change ibus-pinyin thus:
I think (b) would be the better option. If someone wants to type pinyin with the "q" and "a" flip-flopped in their geographic positions, so be it -- but it should be "opt-in" and not the default.

There are many traditional Mandarin words that are missing from the ibus-pinyin database.
All words that are in Mandarin part of the UNICODE table should be enterable through ibus-pinyin.

IBusConfig sections are case-insensitive (inherited from dconf?) and value-changed always reports section names in all lowercase.
The linked line of code does a case-sensitive compare of the "section", and it believes its section is "engine/Pinyin" so it ignores value-changed events.
What the title says. When I use this input method, the input list is created way below where the caret is, and it is only barely visible when I write in inputs near the top of the screen.
