kycnot's Issues

Suggestion: Add column for fiat acceptance

Currently I use bisq for stacking my sats exclusively, but am always looking for alternatives, so this list is a great starting point.

What I am missing is a column for fiat currencies. The Value could be a short list (USD,EUR,YEN for example) or just a binary yes or no.

Many exchanges only allow to swap coins for coins but don't serve as a fiat on- or off-ramp, which is what I am looking for.

Thank you!

Verify Block DX

Hey, I'm involved in this project and would like to see our exchange have the verified check mark next to it. I know it takes time to test these, but I wanted to extend my support if you run into any issues. To start, here's a list of steps to start trading with Block DX:

  1. Locally install and sync a full node of any supported asset. These wallets are used to store your funds perform all validation checks against the counter party
  2. Install and sync the Blocknet wallet. This wallet is used to aggregate the P2P orders from the network, generate an atomic swap, and facilitate the P2P transaction between the 2 chains including all validation checks against the counter party.
  3. Install Block DX. This is the GUI interface that interacts with Blocknet's XBridge protocol.
  4. Follow the instructions in Block DX to automatically configure your setup for trading.
  5. Restart your wallets to load the updated configurations.
  6. Unlock the wallets to start trading.

More details and a video tutorial can be found here: https://docs.blocknet.co/blockdx/setup/

Switchere.com

Any review about this company? My comment is they will ask you to deposit and start exchange before KYC verified. I deal with this issue for almost three days before I can close my account

RE: HodlHodl Exchange

Hello!

We have checked your website, great to be listed there!

We have a few comments though, firsts of all we don’t require any person information for account creation purpose, as it is stated on the website.

Could you also explain what does the X mark in both XMR and Trade sections mean? Since we have Monero as a payment option and obviously we support Trading.

Best Regards,
David from HodlHodl

Dead service removal request

DTMF is dead by the looks of it. They don't have any virtual numbers available anymore (since more than a month) and the website itself is inaccessible the past few days.

Ability to filter services

As a user I'd like to be able to filter the services, exchanges... By given conditions like country, rating, onion availability, etc.

Unlisting Binance

Binance has been unlisted in 49cbb98

Reasons:

  • Although Binance doesn't require KYC for trading under 2BTC / 24h users have reported that it asks for "surprise KYC verifications" without explaining reasons.
  • Refund without KYC is not offered as a solution.
  • Funds are locked until KYC verification is completed, meaning that they take your coins as hostage to get you KYC'ed.

Add links to user reviews

As a user I would like to have links to user reviews of the listed services so I can check if they are trustworthy.

SUGGEST HERE: Add new Exchange

Comment here any new exchange that you think that should be added.

Already discarded

  • Bity.com - Too many bad reviews on TrustPilot Under investigation
  • tokens.net - KYC is enforced.
  • bitfineon - Can't find ToS anywhere, plus platform isn't yet launched. Will need some testing and feedback from users in order to get listed.

Move bad exchanges to a separate list instead of removing them

I noticed #24 and realized that the info about why each exchange was delisted (or was considered but rejected) is valuable and it would be good to have it more visible on the site, compared to being buried in commits or GitHub issues. It aggregates good investigative work that saves time.

Instead of just removing exchanges that don't qualify, I suggest to move them to a different area (e.g. "blacklist" or "bad"), with links to all known evidence about why they were moved there.

Unlisting LocalBitcoins

Localbitcoins was unlisted in bc56a71

Users reported KYC is now needed in order to operate there.

From the ToS:

Identity Verification
In order to ensure LocalBitcoins remains a safe platform for all of our users, and for us to comply with mandatory legal obligations which we are subjected to, we may require you to verify your identity to access the services we offer. Identity verification may be required when you create advertisements, pass certain trade volume limits, during trade disputes, fraud investigations, and to ensure account ownership. As part of our ID verification process we require you to provide us with your full name as well as documents and photographs that verify your identity (e.g. valid passport).

In certain situations (e.g. due to the regulatory or legal requirements) we may require enhanced identity verification. This may include requirements to verify details or sources of funds regarding payments you have made or received during trades on LocalBitcoins as well as bitcoin transactions that you have sent or received from your account.

List KYC providers and link them with services

This idea extends the scope of the site quite a bit but bear with me.

As a follow-up to #30, I suggest to also represent KYC providers on the site.

The spirit of kycnot, as I see it, is to make people much more informed about opportunities of KYC-less services (the good list) as well as warn them about KYC-ed services (the "bad" list suggested in #30), especially ones that try to sell themselves as "no account" but then strike you with "oops sorry surprise KYC.. aaand we'll hold your funds hostage for now".

I think people are slowly getting the dangers of sharing their personal data with exchanges. But few people realize that many exchanges actually delegate KYC services to a small set of mostly unknown KYC providers. These entities act as centralized hubs for collecting enormous amounts of sensitive user data.

While it is still unclear how many payment applications have embedded Plaid (hence the lawsuit), a few of the known integrations include Venmo, Coinbase, Gemini, Square Cash, Stripe, and Gusto. (enegnei.github.io)

Jumio is being used for online identity verification by five of the top 10 cryptocurrency exchanges, including Coinbase, Bittrex, and Bitstamp. Jumio’s Netverify is also increasingly being deployed by ICO issuers to magnify the trust and transparency associated with their blockchain-related projects and to meet evolving AML and KYC compliance requirements. (jumio.com)

One way to add them to the site is to have a page for each one of them, and establish a bidirectional linking between KYC providers and exchanges/processors that use them.

Unlisting BitQuick

BitQuick has been unlitsed until further news / notice - Needs more investigation.

Reasons:
From the ToS ( ):

Terms of Service updated 2/7/2014 – Any suspicious transactions may be subject to photo identification.
Terms of Service updated 8/28/2014 – We reserve the right to withhold funds if a fake identification document is provided until a valid document is provided.

Any suspicious holds, especially larger transactions, may be subject to government issued photo identification. This is only subject to BitQuick.co discretion. Failure to present identification upon request can result in Bitcoin funds not being released. If a fraudulent identification document is provided, we reserve the right to withhold funds until a valid document is provided. Any cash that is deposited BEFORE a hold is placed will be subject to being withheld, with no BTC being released.

Has anyone experienced something like users have with Binance? May the funds get locked until KYC is completed? Do you have the option of refund without KYC?

Vote services

Having the ability for the users to vote listed services would be nice.
