GNOME Dash Window overview close button slight distortion when hovering on about gtk-theme

Edit: it occurs in 17.10 too, sorry for the false report.

Anyways, what I have found is, that this could has something to do with the size of the windows. When you open a single window and resize it to a size which is almost the whole screen and then toggle the window overview, that distortion does not occure.
Also, when you attach one window to the left (with super leftarrow) and one to the right (super + rghtarrow) and then toggle the overview the distortion also does not appear. When you add one more window, which can me attached or not, the distortion is back.

I can't seem to reproduce this issue in 17.10. Can you try it again and see if it's still an issue? Part of me thinks this is an issue with GNOME Shell rendering (of which there are a few)

I've seen this replicated on Intel graphics systems. However, it's not present on Nvidia machines. Since there's no nvidia or intel specific code present in the theme, we can therefore be extremely certain labeling this as a GNOME Shell rendering bug. Thanks for the report though!
