On launch of .appimage the following presents:

sysctl: cannot stat /proc/sys/kernel/unprivileged_userns_clone: No such file or directory

I note that this error is present in your screenshot and seems to relate to lines 61-65 in entrypoint.sh. Does this simply require some if embellishment, or is it left to error for some more significant reason that I don't understand?

conmon complains on Debian Buster here:

$ ./podman run -it debian /bin/bash

System's libp11-kit0:amd64 is on version 0.23.15-2+deb10u1.

When running AppImageUpdate or appimageupdatetool via systemd, I'll get the following message:

Error reading AppImage: Could not find update information in the AppImage. Please contact the author of the AppImage and ask them to embed update information.

So, please add the needed informations to the appimage for working, automatic updates. Informations to achieve this: https://docs.appimage.org/packaging-guide/optional/updates.html

After I get the appimage and setup rootless, I pull the container and get an error about not finding crun:
