In this case I tend to close this issue for now, as this seems to be some external side effect introduced by Jupyter "magic". You are of course invited to further dig into this and propose a PR if you have found an explanation and solution for this. In the meantime, I am going to close this issue as this seems to be not directly related to pypdf itself.

It would appear likely that something is going on with jupyter notebooks - this doesn't go wrong if I just run it as a standard python script. Not sure whether this is worth closing or not

Does writer.append(reader) works?

from pypdf.

AaronWGoh avatar AaronWGoh commented on July 18, 2024

No, writer.append(reader) is where this errors. However, it only errors in the jupyter notebook but running the code as a python script.py works fine

Could we please ensure first whether the environments are the same otherwise? Especially: Are the pypdf and Python versions the same in both cases?

from pypdf.

AaronWGoh avatar AaronWGoh commented on July 18, 2024

Yes, I can confirm the same virtual environment is being run in both cases
