CLI tool to fetch definitions from Vocabulary.com

Install

> go get github.com/rahilwazir/vcbl

Make sure $GOPATH/bin is exported

Usage

> vcbl tool

A tool is an instrument that you use to help you accomplish some task. If you are going to build a bookcase, you will need the proper tools, like a saw, a drill, and a tape measure.

Flags

--desc value, -d value  Description type of the lookup word. Possible values are: short, long, both (default: "short")
--suggestions, -s       Shows suggestion for similar words
--play, -p              Play the word pronounciation with SoX cli. SoX must be installed
--verbose               Debug output
--help, -h              show help
--version, -v           print the version

Play word pronounciation

Add flag to play pronounciation of the word with sox CLI

Autocomplete suggestions

Show autocomplete suggestions if no results are found. I.e: Interop yields no results and the suggestions are

Try capitalize lookup words

The API is case sensitive (i.e "muslim" yield no results while "Muslim" does) for first letter of the word. Try capitalize lookup word, if lowercase is not found

Definition is not being shown

For the word meager the definition is not displayed while the --verbose mode and at the website (https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/meager) shows it's definition.

Cache integration

Reduce remote calls by using filesystem cache.
