Last time I tried the last release of this gem didn't work with Ruby 3.0 at all, so you got further than I did :)
There's something in master but not released for the issue I was having; see #159 and #171

There seem to be some recent issues in this repo relating to 6.1 as well.
Fwiw I'm using this gem in a Ruby 3.0, Rails 6.1 app myself (ShinyCMS) and it seems fine, but it's not in production use.
