I'm encountering the same issue when trying to use activerecord-session_store with the current Rails main branch (7.1 alpha) which uses Rack 3. From my testing, @alipman88 has the solution. Adding rack-session and removing the < 3 requirement for the rack version in the gemspec resolve the problem. I'm happy to help with a PR if this direction sounds acceptable.

activerecord-session_store depends on actionpack which is currently restricted to rack ~> 2.0
Rack 3 support is targeted at Rails 7.1.0
