nt-hammer-bootstrap's Issues

Switch to MIT license

As the GUI dependecy is LGPL (not GPL as incorrectly stated in our readme), can actually license this repo with a non viral license.

GameConfig.txt and GameInfo.txt contents are not written

Bug description from a Discord discussion:

i used it about a week ago, just remember to check that your game config and
game info files set up properly [...] because it did not do it for me

(...)

It made them [GameInfo.txt and GameConfig.txt] but both were empty, had to manually past the stuff from the guide in

Everything was in the right spots the files were just empty

(...)

[Using] Windows 10

Unable to reproduce inside a Windows 10 virtual machine.

Doesn't seem like a write permission problem, if files are properly created. Some kind of read issue? Error in the environment that we don't catch properly? "Payload" path somehow being incorrect?

Needed:

  • Need a reproducible case of this bug

Add documentation

Should write a descriptive readme with some instructions and stuff.

Don't require Steam

Could dynamically download & run steamcmd to install the required targets, without requiring user to be logged in to Steam.

GUI improvements

Could use checkboxes for verifying the user is ready to continue, instead of an all-buttons UI flow.

Don't require Steam appid launch

For easier setup, should figure out exactly what files the required apps launch generates, and push those directly to the user's target directories, so that launching the prerequisites is no longer required.
