I much prefer to use the input stream:

        InputStream stream;
        try {
            stream = new FileInputStream(ramlLocation);
        } catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
            // Do what you need to
        }

        List<ValidationResult> results = RamlValidationService.createDefault().validate(stream, ramlLocation);
        if(results != null) {
            if(!results.isEmpty()) {
                for (ValidationResult result : results) {
                    System.out.println(result.toString());
                }
            }
        }

So now I have a bunch of files that successfully validate (and don't have any !includes) but
raml = new RamlDocumentBuilder().build(stream, ramlLocation); fails with
this trace:

Exception in thread "main" org.yaml.snakeyaml.error.YAMLException: java.io.IOExc

Any ideas? This fails to build a raml object for even files included in the raml-java-parser for testing.

Ah, solved it myself. I was trying to reuse the stream that I used to validate the RAML in the build() call.
