astra's Issues

Steam overlay in Flatpak troubles

The Steam Overlay isn't working inside of the Astra Flatpak, with native Steam (but almost certainly broken with Flatpak'd Steam as well). This is an unfixable problem on our side unfortunately.

Submit Flatpak to Flathub

The eventual goal is to submit the existing flatpak to Flathub, since that's the "preinstalled" repository.

Don't keep downloads in memory

Right now Astra keeps download chunks in memory, and these can get quite large (multiples of gigabytes.) Instead it should really offload this stuff to disk to prevent OOM on some more memory constrained machines.

Moving the game kinda sucks

It's possible to change the location of the installed game, but the UX seriously sucks:

  1. It's not possible to install a fresh game and choose the location when setting up a profile. You have to create the profile first and then set the location.
  2. When a new game location is selected, no validation happens (or any kind of checks) so it's possible to change the location and then try to update an empty folder.
  3. Astra should ask if you want to move the game files when changing said location.

Bring back the Flatpak repository

The KF6 runtime is now available, and I've been running an experimental build of 0.5.1 on my Steam Deck and all is OK. It's time to get off my butt and actually bring back the repository so people can install it again. Also I should write down the instructions so I don't forget.
