LICENSE file missing

There is no LICENSE file in the package. The MIT license requires that:

The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.

How can the license requirements be properly fulfilled when re-distributing the package or any works derived from it?

Allow setting the alignment

This is quite tricky since Vec is typed, and therefore bases the alignment of its allocation on the type it contains.

Allow checking for allocation failure

This can't be done with the current approach of going through Vec, but there may be another way.
