I think this can be accomplished with conventional-changelog-writer, so I am sharing it here...

I found a solution... So I am closing the ticket as this is related to conventional-changelog-writer so raising it there to discuss it.

Long story short...

      writerOpts: {
        generateOn: (...data) => {
          if (process.argv.includes("--git.tagExclude=*beta*")) {
            return;
          }

          return data;
        },
      },

And returns the CHANGELOG all from the latest version to the next one of the default branch.

Update... This is my final solution :)

const isDefaultBranch = process.argv.includes("--git.tagExclude=*[-]*");

const writerOpts = {};

if (isDefaultBranch) {
  writerOpts["generateOn"] = undefined;
}
