requests-oauthlib handles this for you. Requests, when called like that, should generate a MIME type of multipart/form-data. requests-oauthlib will check that, and then not sign the body. Are you finding that the body is being signed?

Great, it looks like you're right. It turns out that my problem was actually that I was attempting to send other parameters as POST data:

r = requests.post(url, data=params, files=files, auth=oauth)

The issue with this is that the params don't get signed, since they're part of the multipart/form-data.

I probably should have been including them as query parameters in the URL:

r = requests.post(url, params=params, files=files, auth=oauth)

What confused me was that if I don't include any files, the form-encoded parameters do get signed:

r = requests.post(url, data=params, auth=oauth)
