Tier 3 error - Calculating EucDistance GUT

Hello,

I have successfully run Tier 2 and 3 of GUT however PyGUT is unable to complete Tier 3. My projection is British National Grid and DEM 0.25 resolution of I have attempted to run only tier 3, reduce the resolution of my DEM but Arc error 99999 still pops up.

Any ideas why Tier 3 won't run, more specifically EucDistance ?

Many thanks

Error 00732

Hi there,

I'm trying to run the GUT tool version 2.2.1 using an example dataset from the Asotin River that I downloaded from Utah State University Fluvial Geomorphology course materials (https://riverscapes.github.io/Fluvial-Geomorphology/Assignments/module-08_GUT.html). I get the following error message: RuntimeError: ERROR 000732: Input Raster: Dataset C:\pyGUT_2.2.1\GUT-Asotin-ASW00001-NF-F4_P1BR\Test\Inputs\EvidenceLayers/bfCh.tif does not exist or is not supported (see screen shot of error message below). Any idea what I'm doing wrong? The forward slash after EvidenceLayers looks suspicious to me, but I'm not a Python coder so I'll leave that question to the experts. I was getting this same error when running my the tool on my own dataset.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

ArcMap retirement

Hi there,

Just wanted to make developers of GUT and other users aware that ArcMap (and therefore Python 2.7 arcpy packages) will be going into mature support (that is no more software patches etc.) in March 2024 - https://support.esri.com/en-us/products/arcmap/life-cycle

We are therefore wondering if the developers are considering any updating of the GUT code to Python 3, either for continued ArcGIS Pro usage, or potentially a switch to open-source GIS (e.g. GDAL, geopandas, shapely etc.).

What is process for updating GUT 2.x projects to riverscapes compliant

@philipbaileynar you went through and for the Asotin you ingested a whole bunch of GUT runs/projects into one nice Riverscapes Project GUT for a site. You also wrote a project file (e.g. this one). We are going to want to do that soon for other places. Richard Williams has some GUT runs, I have a bunch in other places too. How do we do this? Is it manual? Is it something only you can do? Is it something we want to put in the store?

Anyhow, I am signaling that we need to repeat this workflow and want you to define what it is, and how much should be charged for it. Until we get investment in refactoring GUT, this will be a stop-gap measure.
