This demo is to showcase why understanding Linux is important before you can dive into containers, Kubernetes and Openshift.
In this demo a very simple web-application, based on one index.html is deployed in three different ways.
In demo 1, the web application is deployed in the traditional way on a VM. To replay this demo, you need a test system with RHEL7/8 or CentOS 7/8.
In demo 2, the same web application is containerized using podman.
An image is created and stored in local cache and then a container is started from this image.
To recreate this demo, you need a test system with RHEL8/CentOS8.
The container tools should be installed by default.
Check out this link to get your system configured: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/building_running_and_managing_containers/index
In demo 3, the webapp will be deployed in an all-in-one Openshift 4.4 cluster using CodeReadyContainer.
