auditorystimuli.jl's Introduction

AuditoryStimuli.jl goes beep and ssshhh

Tests codecov.io DOI

Generate auditory stimuli for real-time applications. Specifically, stimuli that are used in auditory research.

Stimuli

This package provides low levels tools to build any stimulus. It also provides high level convenience functions and examples for common stimuli such as:

  • Amplitude modulated noise
  • Harmonic stacks or harmonic complexes
  • Binaural stimuli with user specified interaural correlation
  • Frequency following response stimuli
  • and more...

auditorystimuli.jl's Issues

Improve automation of function generators

Currently the functions are generated for every combination of input by hand. This is not very Julian and its ugly.

For example:

# TODO: Must be cleaner way to set defaults
AmplitudeModulation(a, b, c) = AmplitudeModulation(a, b, c, true, 0)
AmplitudeModulation(a, b) = AmplitudeModulation(a, b, 1, true, 0)
AmplitudeModulation(a) = AmplitudeModulation(a, ฯ€, 1, true, 0)
# TODO: Must be a nicer way to handle units than this
AmplitudeModulation(a::typeof(1.0u"Hz"), b, c) = AmplitudeModulation(a |> u"Hz" |> ustrip, b, c)
AmplitudeModulation(a::typeof(1u"Hz"), b, c) = AmplitudeModulation(a |> u"Hz" |> ustrip, b, c)
AmplitudeModulation(a::typeof(1.0u"Hz"), b) = AmplitudeModulation(a |> u"Hz" |> ustrip, b)
AmplitudeModulation(a::typeof(1u"Hz"), b) = AmplitudeModulation(a |> u"Hz" |> ustrip, b)
AmplitudeModulation(a::typeof(1.0u"Hz")) = AmplitudeModulation(a |> u"Hz" |> ustrip)
AmplitudeModulation(a::typeof(1u"Hz")) = AmplitudeModulation(a |> u"Hz" |> ustrip)

TagBot trigger issue

This issue is used to trigger TagBot; feel free to unsubscribe.

If you haven't already, you should update your TagBot.yml to include issue comment triggers.
Please see this post on Discourse for instructions and more details.

If you'd like for me to do this for you, comment TagBot fix on this issue.
I'll open a PR within a few hours, please be patient!

Streaming processing (e.g. amplitude modulation)

Currently I have to ensure that I produce a full modulation cycle because the amplitude modulation function does not keep track of state between calls. It would be better to have a method for modulating the sound that can be called regardless of the amount of samples.
