blog.community.rs's Issues

Determine standards for guest posts

If we're going to take 3rd party posts in our blog, we should first organize what we find is acceptable, and what is not. At a bare minimum, all posts should respect the code of conduct, but what else should we have? Are there any other examples of a community blog like this we can look into?

CloudFlare settings: Please don't use aggressive settings for RSS

You're using CloudFlare to host the blog RSS, and CloudFlare are blocking my access to it from my server IP address with a CAPTCHA. This is likely to be because you have things set up too aggressively.

Background: CloudFlare uses ProjectHoneyPot to get a 'reputation' score for an IP address, and I've been all week trying to resolve what appears to be a false positive against my server IP address from ProjectHoneyPot, most probably (from the tiny amount of information available) due to someone spamming links to my website, although even that much is unclear. The symptoms are various RSS feeds getting blocked with a CAPTCHA. Neither CloudFlare support/community nor ProjectHoneyPot have really been helpful. People have only suggested various workarounds (like get a new IP address). The experience has been more than a little Kafkaesque.

RSS feed URL

The RSS feed URL points to blog.rust-lang.org/feed.xml, should be blog.community.rs/feed.xml, as observed in http://blog.community.rs/2017/04/03/welcome.html --

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="The Rust Programming Language Blog" href="http://blog.rust-lang.org/feed.xml" />

Regular blog posts about community reading?

brson's and manishearth blog posts come to mind, but there's so many community material around that reviewing and introducing in a regular blog post would be a good community service.
