Sync call slow down responses to requests. Matomo requests should therefore be async, but need to play well with Django as requiring the whole project to become async would not work and there's no guarantee that a call to Matomo would resolve before Django's view would.

My current thinking is to make calls async by offloading them to Celery, when present and configured.

I would also like to check other queue tools to see if a more generic solution is possible (for Django and otherwise).

I'm trying to set the IP manually however the server says that authentication isn't working. When I'm setting the IP I make sure to set_token_auth() but the token doesn't seem to be get sent along with the request.
