hac-overlay's Introduction
Overlay for HAC-specific things =============================== This is for the Nintendo Switch. This is a Nix overlay that (tries) to include everything to use the *shofel2* tethered exploit for the Nintendo Switch (HAC-001) and some bonus goodies. * * * It is expected that two systems will be needed to make full use of this overlay. * A host system to launch the exploit (only x86_64 has been tested). * A build system (AArch64) to build the kernel and system image. It is possible to use an already-built kernel and system image, if you can find one around. It should also be possible to use the tools provided here to boot non-NixOS kernels and images using *shofel2*. Booting using this overlay -------------------------- Create an `artifact` folder, either in this repository or elsewhere. The structure should be as such: artifacts/ → cbfs.bin → coreboot.rom → dtb/tegra210-nintendo-switch.dtb → image/switch.scr.img → kernel/Image.gz Then, while being in the folder containing the `artifact` folder, execute the `bin/boot` script. E.g.: ``` $ pwd /home/user/HAC-overlay $ ls -l artifacts total 1040 -rwxr-xr-x 1 samuel users 2364 Apr 29 16:26 cbfs.bin -rw-r--r-- 1 samuel users 1048576 Apr 29 16:26 coreboot.rom drwxr-xr-x 2 samuel users 4096 Apr 29 16:27 dtb drwxr-xr-x 2 samuel users 4096 Apr 29 16:27 image drwxr-xr-x 2 samuel users 4096 Apr 29 16:27 kernel $ bin/boot [...] ``` Using this structure, even non-NixOS distributions can be used. `bin` folder ------------ The `bin` folder contains scripts and binstubs useful for booting Linux. They contain those binstubs that runs the overlay's binaries without entering in a `nix-shell`: * `shofel2` * `imx_usb` It additionally contains those scripts * `boot` which automates some steps. Building the target (AArch64) components ---------------------------------------- > TODO > > It is assumed that it will need an AArch64 host to build them.
