tw6869_vch_dma_frame_isr error

Hi,
I'm using a sabresd board as RTSP server.
It has been loaded linux 4.1.15 along with tw6869 device driver (the module version is 0.5.2).
I added the kernel's patch for NXP userptr DMA.
An avc8000nano is connected to Mini-PCIe slot on SabreSD. Two cameras are connected on channels vch0 and vch1.
The RTSP server is the Gateworks gst-rtsp-server test-launch application.

The pipelines are the following:

  1. gst-variable-rtsp-server -p 9001 -u "imxv4l2videosrc device=/dev/video0 ! imxipuvideotransform deinterlace=true ! imxvideoconvert_ipu rotation=4 ! imxvpuenc_h264 bitrate=5000 ! rtph264pay name=pay0 pt=96" &

  2. gst-variable-rtsp-server -p 9002 -u "imxv4l2videosrc device=/dev/video1 ! imxipuvideotransform deinterlace=true ! imxvideoconvert_ipu rotation=4 ! imxvpuenc_h264 bitrate=5000 ! rtph264pay name=pay0 pt=96" &

The RTSP clients are a SabreSD board with Android 4.3 and a couple of laptops that use VLC player.
The issue is that often, when a client disconnects and reconnects, I see lots of errors from the RTSP server's serial port, like these:

I can’t understand whether the techwell device is under stress or not.
I have noticed that replacing the gstreamer plugin "imxv4l2videosrc" with "v4l2src", the problem is significantly reduced.
is there any way to improve this situation?

Hi,

Could you specify kernel version you used to compile this driver?
I tried on 3.19.0-47-generic Ubuntu with no luck.

For compatible with Kernel 5.4

Hi I built for imx8qxp with kernel 5.4 but video channels did not appear.
Is there any version for kernel 5.4 or What I have to change for kernel 5.4?

Note : I could work with kernel 4.19 on imx8qxp.

and... try this..
gst-launch-1.0 imxv4l2videosrc capture-mode=2 ! 'video/x-raw,width=640,height=240' ! imxg2dvideosink

but it called tw6869_vch_dma_frame_isr

how can it set field mode

Kernel 4.1.x support ?

I have a custom capture card based around tw6865. I use following kernel tree and driver :
https://github.com/boundarydevices/linux-imx6/tree/boundary-imx_4.1.15_2.0.0_ga/drivers/media/pci/tw686x

The issue I have is, most of the time the capturing rate is pretty slow and who kernel freezes after few frames. And the chip only seems to work with v4l2src, not imxv4l2videosrc (this sounds problematic) !

When running the pipeline, I also see the error message :
v4l2bufferpool gstv4l2bufferpool.c:748:gst_v4l2_buffer_pool_start:v4l2src0:pool:src Uncertain or not enough buffers, enabling copy threshold


  1. does your driver works with kernel 4.1.x ?
  2. If yes, do we still need DMA USRPTR patch ?
  3. To get imxv4l2videosrc to work, do we need a patch for gstreamer plugins as well ?

Failure to start capture with V4L2_MEMORY_USERPTR

Use JNI to capture Video , It works fine in V4L2_MEMORY_MMAP method, but failure in V4L2_MEMORY_USERPTR with IPU and G2D

Issue when using gstreamer-imx to record 5 camera stream simultaneously

Hi,

I try to use gstreamer-imx to record 5 camera stream simultaneously, as the following

                   FPS            Resolution          EncodingBitrate

camera0 30 1280x720 5M
camera1 30 720x480 2M
camera2 30 720x480 2M
camera3 30 720x480 2M
camera4 30 720x480 2M

But when I start recording, it keeps showing the message like

I use linux kernel version imx6qsabresd 3.14.52-1.1.1, and the camera drvier using tw6869 with updated patch for kernel

Is there any performance issue when recording 5 camera simultaneously by using use gstreamer-imx and tw6869 driver? any suggestion will be welcome
