I think it would be a good idea for the index.php to include the vital lines that any Joomla template needs so it doesn't freak out or confuse anyone as to why when they first install the template that the homepage is blank.

I should have known what the problem was but at first even I was tricked by it for a minute or two....then I had to slap myself in the forehead accompanied by "oh duh".

I think the index.php should come with just the basics like component, message, debug (which it does), and a demo module code. (debug is a module but not really meant as example code)

I have done this for the template and packaged the index.php file into a zip.

The admin settings will not display the names correctly. Instead of "style" as the fieldset name, it shows "COM_TEMPLATES_Style_FIELDSET_LABEL"

(I followed the examples in the language files to set up my new options)

Have I done something wrong or is there another undocumented step to follow; or...?

the joomla backend operates with a custom version of bootstrap.min.js used for the backend menues etc. The file is located at /media/jui/js/bootstrap.min.js and gets autoloaded in the frontend template. This results in a strange behaviour. We can't delete this file, because then backend menus etc. will stop working, but there should be an option to switch it off in the frontend. Adding the filename to 'disable js' parameter won't work, because then it also disabled the templates bootstrap.min.js file.

Any Ideas maybe by unsetting some paramter in logic.php manually?

Wenn man das Template nach seinen Wünschen anpasst, dann muss man wohl auch unter Language und den einzelnen Parametern in templateDetails.xml, wie auch den Sprachdateien den gleichen Namen verwenden, wie der Templatename selber.

Nur so wurden die Bezeichnungen im Backend bei mir richtig angezeigt.

Hatte ich nur den Namen angepasst und das "frontend" stand in den anderen Zeilen noch drin, gingen unter meiner Joomla 3.0.3 Installationen die Bezeichnungen nicht. Dann standen nur die einzelnen Variablennamen drin.

really appreciate your template and BS v3 integration. But I am really curious about BS v2 powered extensions. Most extensions seem to use J! core bootstrap files form JUI folder. So, they load CSS and JS in v2. Apart from double loading and double resources... doesn't it produce many issues? Visually and technically?

Hello. I've tried to deal with it by myself but i couldn't.
The problem:
if you have logged in as super user and you have at least 1 blog article, then try to collapse in and then out your bootsrap navbar to see what's going to happen. I've tried it with your greate template + joomla 2.5 and then i've tried to do the same thing with joomla 3 but the problem still remains.

Not sure if its my hosting or if i need certain settings but am useing webhostingpad.com as a host and on my main domain and subdomains the template.css.php does not laod any of the require .css. i have used the blank template on twice and they both worked great one with godaddyhosting and the other with bigwheelsdomain hosting. am gonna take a look at all the files and see why does the template.css.php does not load. does any one have an theory on why it does not work?

Bootstrap javascript needs to be updated. Current (1.2.5) version includes old bootstrap.js: collapsing navbar is broken. Fixed it with getting the latest JS

When I try to do this i got a problem with the :
/templates/templatename/js/template.js.php?b=0&v=1

and with:

/templates/templatename/css/template.css.php?b=0&v=1

these link doesn't work.
please can you help me to understand where I'm wrong?

in der neuen Version muss man bei der Installation des Templates ja keine Änderungen mehr an den Sprachfiles durchführen. Im Backend werden sie jedoch nicht ausgeführt. Ich habe sie bereits manuell hinzugefügt, jedoch werden sie immer noch nicht angezeigt. Was mache ich falsch?

ich habe das ebook zum Blank-Template zweimal meines Erachtens akurat durchgearbeitet, erhalte aber immer die gleichen Fehler:

Ich benutze jeweils eine sauberes Joomla 3.02 deutsch unter Wndows 8 in Verbindung mit WAMP.

Wie man in der Abb. sieht, zeigt die Angabe

ul.menu {padding:20px 0;}  

in template.css keine Wirkung. Setze ich sie vor die Media Queries, sieht es bis auf die Höhe der Menü und Breadcrumb Bereiche ordentlich aus. Es scheint so, als würde er Inhalt der Media Queries nicht abgearbeitet.
Ich habe mir die template.css der Seite http://bt12j3.blank.vc/ mal angeschaut. Sie sieht an der entsprechenden Stelle genauso aus, wie die Doku es beschreibt. Von da her ist mir das Fehlverhalten völlig unverständlich.

Wenn man die Browserfensterbreite soweit verkleinert, dass das Menü nicht ,mehr angezeigt wird, erscheint nach Bestätigung des Menubuttons nur sehr kurz (und einmalig) das ausgeklappte Menü, aber es schließt sich sofort wieder.

Auch die Breiten der Eingabefelder im Login-Teil sind natürlich falsch.

Ich weiß nicht, ob eine Ferndiagnose möglich ist. Vielleicht kann ich an die Joomla-Templatedateien der Seite http://bt12j3.blank.vc/ gelangen um einen Vergleich vornehmen zu können.

I'm all for a Mootools-free J! 3.0. Therefore I love blank template because you can turn off Mootools globally.

Only backdrop is that with MT disabled there is no more frontend editing.

There's an excellent free plugin on http://digitaldisseny.com/en/joomla-extensions/disable-mootools-joomla-per-itemid-solve-jquery-conflicts that has the option to enable MT only for frontend editing.

Now I would love to see that feature in a future release of Blank-Template. That would be so cool :-)

First of all I just want to thank Alexander Schmidt for such a great blank template :)

My issue is the disabling JavaScript function in the back-end admin. The feature does work and you can disable the scripts generated in the $headData['scripts'] array but it seems that you cannot disable all of them at the same time. My example.

I am currently using Joomla 3.1 and was testing the scope of the disable. by default my Joomla generates these files from the ['scripts'] array.

/media/system/js/mootools-core.js
/media/system/js/core.js
/media/system/js/caption.js
/media/system/js/mootools-more.js

Now I am able to disable anyone of these scripts, up to three at a time but not all of them at the same time. It seems as though joomla reinstates them if the array is empty and not sure why this happens. but I am wondering if this behavior can be changed?

Hi, Just started working with Blank Template. Love it, and now I'm experimenting with Foundation. My site is 940px wide. That's probably the standard row width? Anyway, I wanna have it set to 980px. What would be the best way to get this done? I think using Sass? I tried, but also new to this. Didn't get any further than using Sass on the template.css which works fine.

Hope someone can help me out in in the good direction, as I cannot find anything in the Ebook.

1.) just curious about the template options and framework selection. No matter which option I choose, the core JUI files are always loaded in head section.

At least with ZURB Foundation i expected to load only foundation files (in frontend). I am aware of the advnaced parameters. So, core bootstrap files are removed by entering the respective filenames...

But this won't work with Bootstrap as selected framework, right? Exclude would also remove the BLANK files.

2.) It seems the BLANK bootstrap JS file is not loading at all?

Suggestions and thoughts:
If possible, why not unset JUI files? IMHO, it doesn't make sense to load them with Foundation, nor twice with Blank's bootstrap files. Joomla's core files are not updated, and caused some issues in my last project.

Wenn ich LESS aktiviere wird die template.less nicht geladen.

Ich habe jetzt less.js in den Ordner js eingebunden und in der logic.php mach ich eine extra if abfrage über $cssmethod==less und lade die less.js und die template.less statt die template.css.

Vielen Dank zuerst für die hervorragende Arbeit, ich setze das Blank Template immer wieder gerne ein.

Bei der neuesten Version habe ich ein Problem mit der Ausgabe der Baseurl.
$doc->addStyleSheet($tpath.'/css/template.css.php?baseurl='.$this->baseurl);

Im Quelltext wird die Baseurl nicht übernommen.
../template.css.php?baseurl=" type="text/css" />

Ich nutze Joomla 3.3 und das Bootstrap-Template.

Eine Installation unter XAMPP läuft reibungslos. Ich habe nun schon mehrere Server ausprobiert, immer mit dem selben Ergebniss. Die template.css.php wird nicht geladen.
Woran kann das liegen?

I have installed a Blank Template based template on my Windows PC - localhost. I have turned on the debug messages. I am getting this error:

Notice: Undefined index: print in C:\Ampps\www\joomla258\templates\esurvey\component.php on line 34

My setup: Joomla 2.5.9, Blank Template 2.0.1, Hikashop 2.1.0.
The steps to replicate this error on my PC are:

1. Login to Front end
2. Add a Product to Cart
3. Add a Billing Address Modal Popup comes up
4. On the Modal popup I see this error

What could be the source for this error? Please advice.

Hi, eure Demo Seite scheint nicht zu funktionieren, jedenfalls ist sie bei mir unter verschiedenen Browsern ohne Inhalt.

Der Ordner der Font Awesome nennt sich "fonts" – referenziert wird allerdings im Stylesheet auf "font" (also ohne "s")!

Und natürlich gibt es auch längt schon wieder eine neue Version, aktuell ist 3.2.1 soweit ich weiss!

blank template seems to have all media-queries in main template.css

I'm on J!3.0.3 with latest Blank-Template version.

I have strange behaviour of the insert image popup when editing articles on the frontend. This happens with two of my templates based on Blank-Template.

When I hit the "Image" button below the editor in the frontend, the insert image dialogue has no css styles:

With protostar template all is fine.

I also get 2 errors in the console when I hit the "Image" button below the editor window:
GET http://gastraserver/glasow-3d/templates/glasow/css/default/print.css?v=1 404 (Not Found)
Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Window] has no method 'addEvent' , popup-imagemanager.js:288
The Uncaught TypeError also appears with protostar template.

The insert image dialogue loads in an iframe. I have compared the content of the html in the iframe with my template and protostar template.
With protostar, where everything is fine, the template.css gets loaded in the iframe:

In my template it doesn't. Instead it is loading print.css (which doesn't exist):

It must be the call to the wrong css that causes the problem.

I don't have any clue why this happens and how to fix it.

Can you confirm this behaviour or tell me how to load the template.css in the html that is in the iframe?

ich bin momentant dran an einen Blank Template zu basten und komme einfach bei den Dropdownmenü nicht weiter... Google hilft mir nicht weiter da es mir zu viel von der Vörgängerversion von Bootstrap vorschlägt.

folgendes Problem. Das Menü zeigt es richtig an, aber sobald ich auf ein Link klicke wo auch das Menü aufgehen sollte passiert nichts. Erst wenn ich drauf klicke kommt kurz das Menü und schließt wieder.

Würde mich freue über Antworten.

unter Joomla 3.02 führt das Einfügen des Anmelden Moduls dazu, dass das Menü bei kleinerer Schirmbreite nciht mehr ausklappbar ist. Es ist völlig egal, an welcher Position des Modul eingefügt wird. Auch ein völlige Löschen und Neuinstallieren des Moduls bringt keinen Erfolg.

Hallo, im Buch Templates für Joomla wird die Browserweiche für IE 6 beschrieben (if lt IE 7), in der Templatevorlage ist das aber nicht integriert. Die Website wird mit IE 6 nicht korrekt angezeigt auch wenn ich diesen Eintrag einfüge.
Wird IE 6 überhaupt noch unterstützt?

Wenn man einen Menüpunkt als "Menüeintrag-Alias" definiert wird aus dem Menüpunkt ein Bootstrap-Dropdown, sprich es wird ein [data-toggle="dropdown"] gesetzt, obwohl es gar keine Unterpunkte und somit kein Untermenü gibt.

Richtig wäre hier, das [data-toggle="dropdown"] nur zu triggern, wenn der Menüpunkt auch ein "Parent" ist, sprich Unterpunkte besitzt. Dazu muss man folgende Zeile anpassen:

I just checked out your blank template and I must say, I fell in love with it.

I really would like to use it and I tried to get it working on an fresh Joomla! 2.5.4 installation with just example text installed. As it seems, it doesn´t work. Checking back at your site http://blank.vc/ I realized, that your demo is doing the exact same error, not displaying anything.

Is this project still alive? I am really wondering, as your demo site shows the same behavior and it must be a known problem, isn´t it?

I would greatly appreciate a feedback on this, as I would have to look for another solution, surely not so brilliant than yours!

bin dabei mein Template nach dem Ebook zu erstellen. Dabei entsteht bei mir folgendes Problem. nach Eingabe vom
CONTENT mit Span 8, Span 1 und Span 3 ( Angaben im E-book ! )
erscheint das sidebar (login) unter dem Content anstatt daneben !.
Dies geschiet nur in der Desktop Ansicht. Tablet & Smartphone Ansichten sind ok !

Something has changed in this latest version.
I am unable to properly operate the system menus and submenus using the Blank Template 2.5.0.
I tried to edit the index.html but I think we need to change also the joomla module menus.
Someone already tried this new version?

Im Firefox lädt sich das Dropdown nicht immer korrekt wenn ein zweiter Level existiert.
IE klappt alles. Problem tritt auf wenn Ansicht für z.B Tablet gewählt wird.

Beim Template von Spacelab fährt das Menü beim Menüpunkt Preview z.B aus.
Trotz genauer Umsetzung vom E-Book fährt das Menü nicht aus.

Woran kann das liegen?

On the template.js.php file on parameters there are the var $bootstrap. On witch file will the 'b' generated and filled with an boolean value?
My reason because I have this question is that I want to add another value with boolean for an added functionality in the templateoptions.

ich habe mir das Blank-Template heruntergeladen und installiert.
Jetzt habe ich einen Menüpunkt zum Einreichen von Artikeln erstellt, nur wenn ich den anklicke, dann komme ich nur zum ersten Tab (Editor). Wenn ich auf eines der andern Tabs (Freigeben, Sprache,...) klicke, dann passiert nichts.

Wie komme ich zu den anderen Tabs, damit ich auch Artikel im Frontend veröffentlichen kann?

Die Sprachdateien für das Backend wurden nicht geladen. Erst durch Erstellung von den Unterverzeichnissen language\de-DE und language\en-GB und der Verschiebung der Sprachdateien in das entsprechende Unterverzeichnis wurden sie dann geladen.
Problem aufgetreten in lokaler Serverumgebung (Windows Vista + xampp 1.8.0 + Joomla 2.5.8)
