Found in base branch: main

Vulnerability Details

Lib/ipaddress.py in Python through 3.8.3 improperly computes hash values in the IPv4Interface and IPv6Interface classes, which might allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service if an application is affected by the performance of a dictionary containing IPv4Interface or IPv6Interface objects, and this attacker can cause many dictionary entries to be created. This is fixed in: v3.5.10, v3.5.10rc1; v3.6.12; v3.7.9; v3.8.4, v3.8.4rc1, v3.8.5, v3.8.6, v3.8.6rc1; v3.9.0, v3.9.0b4, v3.9.0b5, v3.9.0rc1, v3.9.0rc2.

Failed running the deployment script

I am following the most updated Readme here https://github.com/Seagate/cortx-monitor/blob/thavanathan-patch-1/cortx-monitorQuickstartGuide.md. I am using VM running on VMware Workstation installed in Seagate's laptop (has access to Seagate network).

When following step #3 "Finally run the deployment script" : $ ./sspl_dev_deploy --deploy -L /root/MYRPMS --variable_file ~/template_values.1-node.txt --storage_type RBOD --server_type HW

I got this error:

Link to cortx-prereqs.sh doesn't work

Hey guys! I am following the QSG here https://github.com/Seagate/cortx-monitor/blob/main/cortx-monitorQuickstartGuide.md

It has this following sentences:
If the https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Seagate/cortx-prvsnr/dev/cli/src/cortx-prereqs.sh?token=APA75GY34Y2F5DJSOKDCZAK7ITSZC link is not accessible, generate new one.
Visit https://github.com/Seagate/cortx-prvsnr/blob/dev/cli/src/cortx-prereqs.sh and naviagte to RAW > Copy URL > Use the URL for deployment.

Those links are dead, and need to be replaced with the updated one. There is no "dev" branch on cortx-prvsnr repo, so I don't know how to get that script. I look at another branch, and couldn't find it either. It must be renamed :)

I am currently addressing https://jts.seagate.com/browse/EOS-23115. And, this issue is blocking me from testing my patch. I am looking forward to the fix!
Thx!

Sanity Test Stuck at "Waiting for SSPL to complete initialization"

I tried to rerun the test after rebuilding + reinstalling the RPM. This is the Readme that I am following (https://github.com/Seagate/cortx-monitor/blob/thavanathan-patch-1/cortx-monitorQuickstartGuide.md).

I am able to follow the readme just fine. Everything works as expected. However, when I edit the code a bit and redo all the build+install, the sanity test is stuck. I feel like I am missing something. Perhaps the Readme above haven't provided the method to enable rebuild + retest.

To reproduce:

  1. Re-execute the build script jenkins/build.sh
  2. Then follow all the step until running the sanity test
  3. Do some code editing here
  4. Repeat step 1 and 2, but this time. I got stuck at the sanity test:
/opt/seagate/cortx/sspl/bin/sspl_setup test --config yaml:///etc/sspl_global_config_copy.yaml --plan dev_sanity

The trace:

My kafka is active as shown above. I also restarted the machine, but it doesn't solve the problem. I also tried to delete all the existing RPM and reinstall the newly generated RPM, but the problem still persist.
I run this on devvm OVA. Please let me know if I need to provide more info.

Thanks!

Sanity Test doesn't give the expected output

I am following the most updated Readme here https://github.com/Seagate/cortx-monitor/blob/thavanathan-patch-1/cortx-monitorQuickstartGuide.md. I am using VM running on VMware Workstation installed in Seagate's laptop (has access to Seagate network).

When following the last step (running sanity test: /opt/seagate/cortx/sspl/bin/sspl_setup test --config yaml:///etc/sspl_global_config_copy.yaml --plan dev_sanity). I got this following output:

[root@cmu cortx-monitor]# /opt/seagate/cortx/sspl/bin/sspl_setup test --config yaml:///etc/sspl_global_config_copy.yaml --plan dev_sanity

Is this test can be run on a VM?
Seems like the test is expecting sensors reading, which I don't have on my systems. Thanks!

Found in base branch: main

Vulnerability Details

In PyInstaller before version 3.6, only on Windows, a local privilege escalation vulnerability is present in this particular case: If a software using PyInstaller in "onefile" mode is launched by a privileged user (at least more than the current one) which have his "TempPath" resolving to a world writable directory. This is the case for example if the software is launched as a service or as a scheduled task using a system account (TempPath will be C:\Windows\Temp). In order to be exploitable the software has to be (re)started after the attacker launch the exploit program, so for a service launched at startup, a service restart is needed (e.g. after a crash or an upgrade).

Failed to start: Can't find sspl_init

I am following this guide to start the system https://github.com/Seagate/cortx-monitor/blob/main/cortx-monitorQuickstartGuide.md

I am able to build the RPM and install it. This is the installed RPM:

[root@dan-cortx-2021]/opt/seagate/cortx# rpm -qa | grep sspl
cortx-libsspl_sec-method_pki-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.x86_64
cortx-sspl-test-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.noarch
cortx-libsspl_sec-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.x86_64
cortx-sspl-cli-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.noarch
cortx-sspl-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.noarch
cortx-libsspl_sec-devel-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.x86_64
cortx-libsspl_sec-method_none-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.x86_64
cortx-libsspl_sec-debuginfo-2.0.0-1_gita3f88947.el7.x86_64

Then. I got an error when starting the service.

$ /opt/seagate/cortx/sspl/sspl_init

There is no such file on my machine.
Who is responsible for generating that file? Any pointers on what to look for? Can I start it manually?
I also can't find any *.service file at /opt/seagate/cortx/sspl/.

I am currently addressing https://jts.seagate.com/browse/EOS-23115. And, this issue is blocking me from testing my patch. I am looking forward to the fix!
Thx!
