Home Automation Philosophy

You shouldn't have to work the room, the room should work you. True home automation is having your home anticipate what you want without needing any input from you. Using voice commands are nice and all, but that ends up being just another switch you have to use and is ultimately just a remote control, not automation.

I also made the popular dark theme Slate.

Suggestion on Room Presence

Hey dude, great Room Presence System with the Google Home.

I'm new to HA but I'm trying to setup my Google home for (almost) the same purpose. But I can't really understand whether they killed Google Home support and cannot be used anymore for that.

If so, do you think I could use an Android Device as Tracker? How? I could use my previous android with Bluetooth LE to track whether I'm in the Room or not.

living room occupancy

Hi Sean, love the detailed write up. I've been reading it off and on for a while now until I could gain some confidence in writing up something similar for myself.

One of the pains I have is in my living room, when sitting still, say reading or on the PC/phone, lights go off because no motion was sensed. How do you overcome that? Do you always have your living room TV on and playing?

If i might suggest a change

The color red "google-red-500", is more orange then red, i changed mine to '#b53030' and it looks much better!
